I have the Lacie ItsaKey 8Gig unit in my keyring, and its been great, everyone who sees it thinks its great, it has given me no problems. It seems pretty durable. I also like that there is no cap to loose or misplace.
I can't comment on the Sandisk Titanium, as I have never used one of those. -
Well I have a personal problem with the company Lacie. I got a 1TB hard drive from them and it broke 8 months into use. I got another one from the warranty and it broke 18 months after use and they wouldnt give me a new 1. Supposed to have 2 year warranty but I guess they started the 2 years from the first one. Two hard drives just breaking in a lil over 2 years. Screw Lacie I'd never buy from them. Sandisk is a very well respected flash memory provider I'd totally go with sandisk. I use sandisk for SDHC cards for my cell phone and they have been flawless

sandisk titanium cruzers are THE usb drives to have.
i keep one on my keychain and it works like a charm. -
i think i ll go with the sandisk titanium but with half the disk space as of the lacie cause for the same price of lacie 16gb id get sandisk 8gb :S , so should i go with the lacie if this is the fact?
-
When making a decision such as this, I'd go with facts, not emotionalism. At least one poster admitted to a subjective dislike of LaCie due to his bad past experiences. Still, I remember reading a recent review where Sandisk lagged behind LaCie. Give me a chance to check, and I'll get back to you.
Incidentally, I know few people would like to carry around an ugly drive (others don't care, but manufacturers should keep this in mind when designing the things) but performance and reliability should be paramount with a purchase like this. -
I agree with Krane. A "good looking" drive has some importance too, but you should prioritize performance and reliability (which I guess, rugged USBs account for reliability). Based on personal experience with friends, USB drives with chip connectors (or the Gold SIP technology on the Lacie) tend to wear out a lot easier, and have more problems establishing a decent connection.
You should try to find a performance comparison between both drives though. If you're prioritizing capacity, go for the Lacie, but if you need more durability, go for the Sandisk.
By the way, I know it's not in your options, but I own a Pretec i-Disk Bulletproof Secure and I have nothing but praise for it. I've been using the drive for over 2 years now and it's survived numerous problems internally (viruses) and externally (drops, shocks, etc.) and still works until now. It also seems to have a faster transfer rate than the Lacie, clocking 20MB/sec, compared to Lacie's 10MB/sec. It's actually waterproof, and bulletproof (to an extent -see this video.) -
i used the normal sandisk cruzer for like 2 years untill someone stole it , so i ll go with the titanium i am sure it will be better , i was thinking of the lacie for its design but when u told me the problem of gold SIP wearing out i ll definitely not going to get it , as i use flash drives like 10 times daily
, thanks guys for ur help

I just purchashed a corsair survivor gtr 32GB. You can find my review of it in the accesories forum. I'm basically getting 33-35MB/sec red speed and 28-30MB/sec write speed. In an aircraft aluminum casing waterproof to 200 meters. i could prolly hit this with a hammer and it would still work. It wasn't cheap tho it was 125 dollars for 32GB.

125$ for 32gb thats too expensive for me
, i don't need a flash drive that i could hammer anyway , if i throw my flash drive and a car passed on it then i deserve to lose my data
, by rugged i meant can withstand drops scratches and this kind of things
, not bullet proof and not hammer proof
, thanks anyway for passing by
