    Hi guys,
Looking for a bit of help here, and after reading around seems like a forum where i'll get some great answers!

My names Peter, I am 17 and i'm currently in Sixth form, i'm taking design as one of my major subjects, and I think i'd like to carry it on into university.
For design, we have to Plan, research, manufacture and test a product. I have decided to address the problem of laptop overheating when used on a bare lap with no support. I know there are already lots of products available, but i'd really like to make a better, cooler version as the existing products all seem a bit dull to me.
This is where I would love some help!
Does anybody out there have any awesome ideas for a lap tray which would be used to hold a laptop and prevent overheating.
So far i've thought about inductive loop charging and a memory foam base. What would you like?
If you have purchased one? What swayed your decision?
    Thanks guys
    Peter

not a flat surface....concave so the bottom of the laptop can breathe...for example the sager np8690 which has its fans blowing out of the bottom.

The memory foam is a good idea. Personally, I'd like to see an aluminum surface and fans that can be placed in different locations over the area of the board. A retractable mouse tray would be nice too. The electromagnetic induction charging system will be interesting although I'm not so sure about its practicality. If you think about it, the system will still need an AC power source, hence a cable will be coming out of the laptop pad. It's not much different than actually plugging in the laptop's AC adapter while it's sitting on the cooler. That and the fact that you'll need serious engineering and electrical skills to pull it off.
