I'm looking for a type of lap mat that I can place in my lap, but at the same time separates me and the laptop, giving my laptop the chance to remove the excess heat coming from the vents under it. I need one primarily to use when I'm just slouching in the couch and or travel.

    You guys have any recommendations?

If you want something to really keep you and the laptop cool see X2P's review of the Zalman NC2000(B) here

As for just a passive pad (IE no power needed) see this one: The Thermaltake Ixoft

Try an Ikea flexible cutting board.

I bought a 2 pack... Stacked together it works well on your lap. I use my laptop on a table now so I use one under my laptop, and another as a large mousepad. Works great.

i think those would suit you well. if you are willing to spend the money for the one that goes on the lap, it looks very comfy and you can use it on a bunch of different surfaces. if you go for the 48 dollar one, you have a great desk for when you are lounging on your favorite chair.

its a bit expensive for them i know but its the closest thing to a desk on your llap you will get.

I'd use a cookie sheet or a Cafeteria tray...
