Hey all i have had the lapcool 2 (non USB) for over a year its worked great, but i put a pen in the fan and it broke... I didnt mean to do it but it just fell in. So im looking for a USB cooler now. I was going to buy another lapcool 2 but then i saw the lapcool 4.

So basicly i know lapcool 4 is smaller, but does it cool any better? I really liked the way the lapcool 2 would acctually cool. Any one have any data on this? Im not coming up with much for the lap cool 4.

If you had the lapcool2 then i take it your fans on the bottom of the laptop sucked in right (intake)?(seeing that the lapcool2 blows cold air UP at the bottom of the laptop)..I own the lapcool2 and i think it is awsome. I would stay with it, it works great

btw. all laptops that suck air in through the bottom and exhaust out the rear or sides will benefit from the lapcool2

They both cool the same. If you really need the usb ports and the folding then that should be the only reason you get it.

I have the lapcool 4. Im using it cool a 12' laptop (Dell X1). The cooling is amazing. THis laptop can get VERY hot since it doesnt have a fan. Under load CPU temp went from like 50-60C to 30-40C. It blows air right onto the back of the notebook. I suggest this for any laptop that doesnt have a fan on the back blowing outwards.

p.s. Dunno if I mentioned this before but this cooler fits a 12in perfectly.

yea, i have a lapcool3. i'm pretty sure the wideness is the same as the lapcool4. I have a 14.1 inch on it. does an "ok" job of cooling but it would lok weird to put any laptop larger than a 14.1 on it. i think a 13.3 would be a nice size.

This is an ancient thread, but I am desperately looking for a laptop cooler.

It seems that the Lapcool2 is more popular and is thinner by 2mm. All the Vantec coolers are expensive...and since I can demand it, I want 4-USB ports, not 3 like the Lapcool4 has.

    Hah.

The LC4 is still my favourite, since it can be so portable if need be, and still loaded with ports.

Do you know if the LC2 is noisy? I read your great review of LC4, so thanks for that, cori.

OK I just ordered the Lapcool2 from Newegg. Hope its good. Thanks.

EDIT: It's kind of sad that they are all noisy, even though you shell out almost 50 USD$

Well, its not the fan themselves, more like the air.
