omfg, finaly. i love my lapcool2. i can only emagine how awesome the lapcool4 is.
-
hmm am i missing something..? it looks like it barely fits that 15.4" .. how is it going to fit a 17"? my notebook is 416mm across, while the lapcool is only 305mm.
please tell me im reading something wrong =\ -
buddy, my coworker owns a 17" powerbook and a similar cooler, all that needs is just to put your notebook right in the the center of the cooler (for balance).... is not that impossible
-
^well yeah i know it won't be impossible, but id wanna avoid as much hang-off as possible.
Until this comes out (if it isn't already), i guess the lapcool4 would be the best bet when it comes to the 17"s then .. i'm gettin real lazy to keep on waiting for a notebook cooler big enough to fit mine -
Tridge, you should check out the thread I posted about Cooler Master's new product for widescreen laptops. Those vantecs are good, but I read a review comparing the lapcools with coolermasters products and performance wise the CoolerMaster coolers are superior.
The lapcools performed quite well, and got great reviews for functionality and size, but the CoolerMaster products just cool better.
Check out their new widescreen coolers on their website.
Cheers,

I've seen people make a great deal of noise about how the all-aluminum chassis of the CoolerMaster must make it a better cooler.
I don't buy it.
The only way that would work would be if the aluminum (a great thermal conductor, don't get me wrong) was actually in contact with the heat producing notebook. It isn't. I don't know if everybody has these, but all the notebooks I've used have had little rubber feet. Those would be the only things in touch with this cooling tray from CoolerMaster!
Airflow cools your computer, and that's why these things work. Plastic, aluminum, cardboard... it doesn't matter what the thing is made out of so long as the fans are moving air. -
I would probably opt for CoolerMaster's Apple notebook cooler for my Sony because it has 3 fans vs. 2 on the other CoolerMaster models.
-
I like that Coolermaster started making more proportional coolers,
I mean wtf is with lapcool being 32cm wide and only 24cm deep, 17" notebooks are not only wide, they are deep too.
Edge, what Apple notebook cooler?
I'll probably buy this one
http://www.coolermaster.com/index.p... ADAK&other_title=+R9-NBC-ADAS / ADAK+NotePal
Will fit my Inspiron 5150, just right, and fans have good placement too,
do those Coolermasters, blow air at the laptop or suck the heat out of the bottom? -
Here ya go, www.coolermaster.com/product_common_images/NOTEPAL.pdf
look at the one for the Apple notebooks, it has 3 fans. I suppose it would work with my Sony ax570g. What do you think? I'm pretty sure the fans blow air up toward the bottom of the laptop. -
hmm I only see 2 fans in that document.
-
ah!
but that thing is HUGE! unless you have a really big laptop you won't need it for a 15" laptop
the 2 fan one, I think the max size for it is 15", just right for me -
A word of caution on those NotePal cooling platforms with 17" notebooks...
I tried my Sager 5720 on that NotePal. It was severely unstable because of the 5720's build which concentrates the bulk of the weight towards the back end. This had the effect of making it extremely easy to tip the 5720 backwards off the NotePal. I don't know if other 17"ers would have this problem, but the 5720 can't be safely used on the NotePal. -
Actually, what I think of doing is to cut that front piece off.
so the laptop will slide down, will sit better and won't tip back
-
Good point. Guess I'll just have to try it out to know for sure. -
-
Do you see those 2 little bumps on that picture I posted, that's where I'll cut it I think. -
Can you guys recommened an online store to buy a coolermaster? Thanks

The new CoolerMaster coolers have 3 fans, you have to visit their Global website, not the North American one. I don't know why they haven't updated their websites.
Slappy I agree with you partially. I don't know about other laptops, but my Z70Va has a rubber piece over the harddrive compartment that makes contact with whatever surface it's on. Thing is it gets HOT. Yes HOT, so if it's in contact with an aluminum surface I'm sure it will cool nicely.
Also, even though your base isn't planted flat on the surface and is on the rubber stops the surface still gets heated. If it's plastic it will retain the heat more so than the aluminum surface, that is how it disapates the heat better.
There is a review out there somewhere that compared the lapcool models from Vantec vs. Cooler Master's products. Cooler Master won the performance matchup, but Vantec took the portability and noise category.
Overall they suggest either or, because they both performed admirably.
Either way I want max performance, since I won't be carrying my cooling pad, so I'd go Cooler Master

I just ordered this one from an eBay reseller for $29 shipped. It's a lot like the NotePal but without the front end that makes it unsuitable for my 5720.

I got the Bytecc cooler. It has two fans and a small lip at the front, but my 5720 is very stable on the aluminum platform. The temps are down between 4-10 degrees, depending on the apps running. Definitely worth the $30.00 investment.

Do the fans not require additional power Supplied by the notebook?
Only if the fans have external power is this a really effective cooling method.
By adding more power requirements this is supposed to make it COOLER?
Here is an analogy
A refrigerator placed in an insulated room will actually heat up the room
because the heat from the energy required to cool is more than the cooling itself. Think about it!
An alternative that requires no additional energy is acheived by placeing the laptop on an incline which is a proven method that adds to lower temperatures. (references and studies upon request)
As far as not likeing a laptop to hang off the sides GUESS WHAT. It may not be to your likeing but anytime a laptop is unrestricted and in Free Air it will run cooler. Cooler is better for your laptop. This is why you do not put it on a blanket or even a chair as these tend to block free air flow. -
power requirements that are taken up by the USB plug which a laptop cooler uses does not affect greatly affect the heat issue if at all. the idea is similar to a supercharger in a way. the charger takes power from the engine to power itself but in turn gives back more power. in this case the heat is minimal but the fans it provides are far more beneficial.

Sorry to bring up a old thread but...
NO ONE is selling the freaking Notepal infinite
The only seller that I could find was http://www.mobileplanet.com/p.aspx?i=154090&partner=froogle and I have no clue who they are. -

MobilePlanet is good. They used to deal mostly in phones and handhleds, but they have grown. If the price is ok, you should be safe buying from them.
