Hey all - I just got my new Sager NP 9280. I realize that I won't often want the 11 pound notebook on my lap, but I do expect that from time to time I'll want to sit on the couch or in bed with it.

My concern, of course, is that setting the computer on my lap would block the many bottom-facing fans. Any recommendations for cooling pads or lap-desks to support the notebook?

I'm asking here instead of just reading Amazon reviews because I'll need something that can work with a very large laptop (nearly 16" x 12").

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

I suggest buying a bedsite tray! The ones you can eat breakfast on. It is excellent for notebook use in bed!

Welcome to the NBR forums. :)

For coolers, the Zalman ZM-NC2000 can hold the 17" and up models pretty well.

If you want it to be efficient with the cooler, then getting a lapdesk/stand would be best since the bottom vents/fans wont be blocked.

has the nc2k been tested with this particular laptop? it only looks like it'll cool the HDD's. although the nc2k is very quiet, it doesn't push much CFM. the vents don't line up with the np 9280 very well either. if the laptop will be stationary on a desk most of the time, then the cryo LX is gonna be yur best bet. the cryo LX also works on soft surfaces and laps if u fold the front under. yur laptop will thank u by performin at very cool temps.

i find those breakfast/wooden lapdesks to be too bulky and inconvenient. a nice alternative would be the 18" lapinator. great for lap-use. u could also get some extra 3m rubber bumpers and lift up yur rear even more.

Thanks, all, for the recommendations! I think I'll order the lapinator - seems small, comfy, and good at keeping the fans/vents clear on my laptop. Last night, I tried just using an old small (12"x17") whiteboard we had sitting around the house. It worked pretty well, but did get a bit uncomfortable after a while.
