Couldn't find what I was looking for exactly. I was wondering if there were any good notebook coolers for using on your lap? I use mine around the living room a lot and am currently using a Zalman N2000 but its not the most comfortable thing, nor the most mobile.
I have a G51j so its not a terribly huge notebook. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated =)

I'm affraid that your hot asus G51j requires good cooling pads like the zalman series. I forgot which was better for your laptop, zalman or cryo lx...it depends on the fan positions, can someone refresh my memory?

Not so much looking for ultra cooling;
I was looking at the Cool Master Notepal and it seemed alright, not sure how great it is though. -

Is it a HDT HSF?
If not, then, be careful. A bad lap can punch holes on the Heatsink. -

I usually take a 1/4 inch thick piece of Lexan glass about the size of my notebook and put that on my lap, and I put two decks of cards on the back corner of my laptop so the rear is elevated and all the fans have sufficient room on the bottom to suck in cold air. In your case you could put the Lexan glass under the cooler?

I actually cut the front hardcover from a big book. Fits my g51 perfectly. Then I put my Zalman on top of that. Works great! If I'm not gaming I just use the book cover and my laptop so air gets to the vents. Strange solution but it fits perfect and is sturdy and light.

That's funny dune I do almost the exact same thing. I want to get a piece of plexiglass or thin wood cut though, make it a little nicer. I'll probably never get to it though =p
If you want something really portable you can try a passive cooler, like the xpad.

And about the cryo lx vs. zalman coolers, I think it really does depend on your vent locations and notebook layout. I'm not sure the cryo would hit my gpu as well as my zalman can, just because of the way it's designed. -
And I also have a spare one with the back cover of the book lol.

@ all u ghetto riggers: lapinator > xpad. u can get the lapinator for 20 bucks or somethin like that! why would u wanna be cheap and ghetto rig yur own when there is a tried and true product here, for so dang cheap? the lapinator can also be used comfortably with yur other existing laptops, as well as future ones, depending on which size u get. -

I really don't know, I'm just reading what other people are saying. I'm very happy with my temps (shaved off about 18c when the bottom panel is off), and I'm sure the cyro would be just as good if not better. Makes me really wanna try it out, but I probably never will.
Anyway, threads way off topic. lapinator, xpad, make your pick you'll most likely be happy with either one! -
Cooler Master Notepal Infinite is perfect for lap using. No sharp edges, light weight and etc, and it still is pretty good when it comes to active cooling (it's not Cryo LX, but it's not that bad either).

I have the Targus Lap Chill Mat:

It is actually comfortable with a neoprene like material on the bottom where rest on your legs, and it cools pretty effectively. -
