yeah, will be needing speakers to go with that...

get the "X-Fi XMod external USB soundcard" (from Harvey Norman, or other..), the onboard sound is not that particullary good, this Xmod does not have EAX, but it will improve the sound dramatically over the onboard sound. wheter ur using the enchancement or not. and get a logitech z2300 2.1 speakers.

ur a big fan of razer arent ya? dont want logitech G-series instead?

Personally, I'm a Logitech fan simply because it does more (mx518 and G15 mouse/keyboard setup is cheap and effective and cool-looking), but if you're into the plain badassery of the Razer line of accessories, I can't say you're wrong. :) It's a personal choice.

You WILL need speakers, though. I don't know what you will be using them for - will you be doing presentations or watching concert DVDs? The needs for each will differ greatly from the other.

I advise putting money away until you actually NEED an external HDD. Then you can buy one of the "HDD replacement kits", replace your current 200gb-or-whatever hard drive, and stick in a 500GB bad boy, which will likely have come down in price since you've been saving for it for approximately a year! Then you can use the old 200GB drive as an external one.

This is a good point, but I guess it depends on what the user needs it for. If the extra space is needed for movies, music ...etc or simply because they are out of space, I fully support your comment. But if the user has important data that needs to be backed up, an external hard drive is very useful. As you also noted, I'd recommend purchasing an external enclosure and hard drive seperately, so you can always use the other hard drive later on for other uses. I'd suggest going with a 3.5" setup since the price/GB is cheaper, unless there is a need to be mobile.

I think for what the Razer headset is worth and by its looks it doesn't appear to have incredible quality, perhaps consider a sennheiser pc headset (usb or analog instead) you may be able to get one cheaper and sennheiser is said to have very good qualtiy, usually gaming headsets have lots of hype and really arent incredible compared to an audio companies headsets which are usually worse than a standalone mic + Audiophile headphone link to sennheiser headsets on newegg for price ideas, also check out plantronics perhaps.

Also is a 113 dollar gaming keyboard really going to make that much difference in your game, perhaps find a cheaper one and either upgrade your xps more or save it for when you need an upgrade.

I agree with the soundcard (perhaps expresscard x-fi) and a set of external speakers, sometimes headphones are fatiguing

Also depending on your needs more harddrive space may be helpful.

Car or airplane adapter if you travel frequently

I don't think you really need to spend that much on accessories or you need to find better prices.

I haven't read any stellar reviews for the Lycosa keyboard. I'd recommend using the laptop keyboard or a Logitech G series over a Razer keyboard.

Razer or Logitech mice are personal preference but I'd pick a Death Adder over Lachesis. Logitech G9 is my favored mouse though.

Don't get so hung up on the Razer brand, just the mice are decent.

I'd check out Sennheiser headsets as well, they're known for quality although I haven't used one. I have a Logitech "gaming" headset and the sound quality is really poor.
