    Hi,
I've read several threads on backpacks in general vs. messenger bags vs. man purses, but didn't find all that much about those of us with 17" screen laptops. What do you use to lug around your 17"? Thanks.

The Kensington Contour Pro for 17inch notebook is a good messenger bag. Targus also makes bags for 17inch notebooks. Samsonite has the XL45 messenger bag for 17inch notebooks.

put the notebook in a 17" in a pouch and then just put in a jansport or something.

That's what I if I take my laptop anywhere.

If you walk with it a kilometer, I would not suggest a messenger bag as it can get a little painful.

I use the Targus XL backpack for my Toshiba. Feels great when I am lugging it around but be warned it is a big backpack and may look funny on a smaller person.

I own a Dell M90 and I'm having a heck of a time finding a bag that I like that fits it and the brick sized AC adapter, spare battery, and my papers/calander/legal pad/ etc. The one that dell sells with the M90 is, well, a piece of crap. Way to skinny to put much of anything. I can barely cram the minimal stuff that I need. After lots and lots of looking around and not liking the "look" of the Targus cases, worried about the tight fit of the Samsonites, I found this The North Face bag. $99 was a far cry cheaper then the $199 the the only other bag I liked, the Booq. I bought it last night and it's getting 2 day shipping. When I get it I'll get some pictures of my M90 in it.

Hi, I'm not sure where you're based nor do I know whether it's possible to order from anywhere else apart from the UK, but they do provide a ' Other Part Of The World ' option when you go over to their site, but the TechAir laptop bags are great. They're really well designed, hard wearing, have air pockets for support, lots of extra pockets and have a unique iTrak tracking plan that goes with it if you lose it, they're also pretty cheap if can find the stockists that I found online....sorry, can't remember the name but if I do find it I'll edit the post for you. I went for the 5504 model for my Inspiron 9400, it's a messenger type bag that fits a 17" widescreen aswell, I've carried it everywhere, through various airports on the way to Thailand and around Phuket ( where I'm based now ). Here's the link for the 17" options : http://www.techair.co.uk/store/laptopSearchResults.asp?type=1&catid=&model=742
I managed to find that one online for a little over £30 including packaging, but I had to shop around for that deal, most were about £10 more that I found....hope that helps....it's also bright red ! So, if someone tries to steal it in a busy airport you've got more chance of finding it or the cretin who stole it, and be able to beat the living daylights out of him....eheheh ;)
