Hi there, I just bought my first ever laptop, a Sony Vaio SR :) It has a 13.3" inch display.

I'm going off to college so I want a backpack that will provide maximum protection for my laptop but also that will have a lot of space to store books and such. Of course, the lighter the better.

    Suggestions?

I use the eBags Downloader since my tablets are small and I dont ever bring my 17" to class. It is quite nice and cheap. Does the job and pretty sturdy too. Used it for 2 years now and its been through a lot of countries.

I use a Swisgear backpack for school. It holds a LOT of stuff like textbooks, notebooks, ipod, cell phone, pens, coffee mug (gotta have coffee) etc. It holds my 15.4 securely in the back compartment. I had no idea what I wanted for a backpack until I took the laptop to Staples and played with a few bags on the shelf. Online shopping is great and all, but I like to touch this kind of stuff before I buy it.

Alternatively you can purchase a sleeve and a bag separately, that way you can hide the fact that you have an expensive notebook in your bag.
