    Hi All
Im ordering a new laptop and now the task remains to get a nice new case to put it in. Im looking for something business orientated able to hold a 15.4 inch laptop. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Essentials
Well padded (Im in Canada so it gets a little cold)
    $50-$100
    Not rolling
    Top loading would be preferable
    Not backpack
    Well built

    Cheers

For the kind of money you are looking to spend, I would go with a Brenthaven. They are usually made of ballistic nylon for near indestructibility, they have large well padded handles for comfort while carrying, large heavy duty zippers, a suspended pocket for the laptop to sit in with excellent padding to protect the corners and sides and then they offer a lifetime warranty against defects. Wear & tear is not covered, but the ballistic nylon will hold up better than the other bags listed above.

    check these out...

FWIW, short of a hard Pelican style case, Brenthavens offer the best protection I've seen other than a brain cell/Tom Bihn bag combo.

I like Pelican for hard cases and Swiss Gear for the soft cases.

I didn't know Pelican cases were that popular until I just googled them.

An Aside: My dad uses them to house a giant Li-Ion batteries for quick power solutions for the military. I've held the case below and can vouch for the quality and stability of their cases. I'm sure anything Pelican makes for laptop cases would be just as durable.

If you have a dell laptop, the dell cases look really nice. Else i would get something all leather and plain, or a briefcase style.

I just went through the same dilemma and settled on this SOLO smart strap case...

(i can't post links yet, it is called the Solo Ballistic Nylon Computer Briefcase w/ Retractable Shoulder Strap. check ebags, currently $51.99 there)

I was going to order it from ebags, but was in Office Depot one day and found it for the $49.99. Once I got to the register it rang for $35, they said it was on sale. Plenty of room for the computer, files and assorted cables but then again I am not a huge pack rat. The bag is professional looking and the smart strap is a pretty neat feature.
