Hi All - I'm looking for a laptop desk/stand that will help me use my laptop in bed as I suffer from ill health. I've been searching online and I'm finding it hard to find something suitable - I need one that will fit a 16" laptop and wireless mouse. I would also like it to tilt at a decent angle so it's easier to type and it would be good if it had a cooling facility.

I liked the look of the Belkin Cushtop (and the price!) but it won't fit a mouse. The Laplander Plus seemed to come closest but it doesn't tilt and I'm not sure if there would be enough room for a mouse either. Any suggestions gratefully received. Thanks.

If you use a wireless laser mouse you can use it literally on your bed.

I had at times used my leg as a mousepad for my bluetooth mouse when on the go.

Thanks for this DetlevCM - that hadn't even occurred to me as I haven't used a laptop in a long time and haven't yet decided on a mouse but I will be getting a wireless one so this might work for me.

    Hi Cin,

Thanks for the help. I really like the look of the iLap but it's a bit pricey! I also like the look of the logitech Comfort Lapdesk but I'm worried about the slickness of the surface and whether it might be a bit small for the XPS 16. The stand that looks like it would possibly be the best for me in terms of comfort is the lapdawg/lapworks wizard type - I really like the design and think it would take pressure off me using the laptop in bed but it is pretty expensive again and I can't see it on sale in the UK at all. Does anyone know if these are sold anywhere in the UK? Thanks again for the help.

    Regards

I just use the $25 Belkin cooler. Sits on my lap when I'm in bed, cools it and doesn't burn my legs! Works as a desk and cooler. Works for me.

Hi Kinghong - I don't think we have Bed, Bath & Beyond over here. I guess I could get something similar somewhere but I really want something that will put the laptop at a better angle for typing etc.

Well I emailed Lapworks to see if they sell them anywhere in the UK but that's a no go - they said they could ship internationally but the shipping would cost $169   Looks like I'll just need to keep looking :(

I don't know if you are able to order from amazon but I have a laptop desk/tray called "my place workstation" I paid $20.00 usd for mine at my local walmart. Amazon's price is kind of inflated but I've found that is is available at various retailers. I originally was using this for my 17" dell but am now using it for my 15" The cool thing about this unit other than price is that under the mouse pad section you can store you mouse, pens or what have you as long as they are small. The legs of the unit are also adjustable and sturdy. The desk has grooves so that you laptop can let the hot air escape if you have fans at the bottom of your laptop. The light on the side I found useless because it does not extend far enough for me. The particular unit I'm describing is #2 in this link:
