I just ordered my first laptop this week, a 15.4'' Sager NP8662. I want to get a laptop desk to use while sitting on the couch, mainly to retain my ability to breed. Ideally the desk would also aid in cooling, but I need something without fans because my wife will be sitting next to me. The numerous reviews I've read have not given a definitive edge to any single competitor, so I was hoping you good people on these forums would throw your opinion into the mix. The ones I've read favorable reviews of include the: Belkin CushTop; Thermaltake iXoft; Lapinator; LapWorks Futura Gamer's Desk; and Xpad. I'd love to read your opinions about these products and anything else you might use. Thanks for your input.

I had the occassion to review and benchmark two unique products made by LapLogic. The first was the LapLogic G800 Aerogel Extreme and the second was the wider version, the LapLogic W800 Aerogel Extreme.

Both of these passive cooling laptop desks use space-age materials and technology in order to keep your notebook cool while providing a stable platform for a user to compute on.

You can read the reviews I wrote on these products at the following links:

The performance of these lap desks is nothing to sneeze at: we're talking a 14°C difference in CPU temperature between using the LapLogic product versus not using one at all. This temperature drop bests even the biggest, baddest active cooling notebook cooler around, the Silverstone NB01, which only acheived a 10°C drop in CPU temperatures.

The only downside to the LapLogic products are that they tend to be a bit on the expensive side (for obvious reasons).
