Can anyone explain the advantages and disadvantages of TPU and silicone keyboard covers and the differences between the 2? I understand silicone is kind of blurry and TPU is really clear, but one of my concerns with TPU is that it will be kind of stiff and hard to press the keys. I don't really care about thickness either. 2/10 of a millimeter thicker isn't a big deal for me. Anyway, anyone who can explain these things to me would be awesome!
    Thanks!
Also, in case it means anything, I have a Dell Inspiron 1525

i remember doing a bit of research into this

from what i remember, tpu is basically better at everything, there was a comparison chart between the two somewhere and tpu blew silicone out of the water

trust me, you'll be able to type comfortably on tpu

from what i remember, there's a better grade of tpu called "nano silver tpu" , maybe take a look into it, think it's anti-bacterial, (but i'm not sure if nano particles can cause harm to the respiratory system)

Nano particles integrated into a polymer matrix are completely safe, the % of particles is rather small. There's research ongoing on antibacterial food packaging focusing on films with nano particles so it's considered safe.

And yep TPU is better than silicone. Don't worry about the rigidity of TPU, that simply depend on the type of TPU resin used. If the manufacturer designed their product right, then there's nothing to worry about.

IMHO, the TPU keyboard does feel a little bit stiff or hard to type on compare to silicone keyboard protector as previously I owned a silicone type before I shifted to TPU one. Nevertheless, you will get used to it as time goes by.

Yeah but I read that TPU deforms easily. Is that true?

I have a Dell 1520 and a silicone cover. Having a 1525, you will have the same keyboard. Using a slilicone cover seems to work well ... I can still see the letters fine and keyboard use isn't affected at all.

;D just buy replacement keyboard and when it comes to it, replace the old one.
If you type a lot at the desk buy an external keyboard.
These covers feels like ... don't want to write it .. just don't want to touch it.

I found out that my TPU keyboard protector started to become whitish and I can't wash it out. Anyone particular method to clean it?

TPU Keyboard protectors will get whitish after a long time use. It is the main character of this kind of keyboard protectors. I used TPU protectors but currently i am using silicone laptop keyboard covers, which are cheaper and easy to clean. Please try this method to clean your TPU keyboard covers. Here are a few steps:

    1. Apply some mild detergent (i.e. dish washing detergent) on a damp cloth
    2. Gently scrub your cover back and forth with the cloth
    3. Rinse your keyboard cover thoroughly with water
    4. Place the cover on tissue paper and air dry naturally.
    *Note:
Excessive force during cleaning may cause creases / wrinkles
Do not use soap to clean the keyboard cover.

    Wish it works.

TPU is better. But it costs you more and it is hard to clean. If i were you, i would buy the silicone silicone keyboard cover.
