Has anyone had any experience with these media/optical bay batteries? How much extra battery life do you get (for the dell model i have it is a 3-cell (30Whr))? Worth the trouble of re-installing the drive if you need to play a dvd? Thanks

if you travel and are on battery a lot....yes. If not no. Also 3 cell is kinda small and crappy. my old hp has a 4 or 6 cell one. I am thinking it was 6. It will give you ~50% more power if you have a 6 cell battery in it. Worth while if your on battery a lot but otherwise not so much. You can also look into external battery packs but they are a hit and miss on good battery life and if your laptop will work on it (also cost...they like to charge an arm and a leg so you got to shop around to find a good one). The back up batteries are useless if you have a gaming laptop because they can't push the amount of juice you need.

Well I am using one. With the main 6 cells I get 5-6 hours. With the media bay batt in they bay i can get 9 hours of computing off the power grid. That is mobility indeed. I suppose it depends on whether you need to be away from a power source for extended period of time. For me the peace of mind is worth the price paid for the extra media bay batt.

Where can I find one of these? Are they generic and compatible with lots of laptops, or do these only work with special laptops?
