    Hello,

Just thought I would share a good source to get custom laptop screen protectors: ShaggyMac Custom Laptop Screen Protectors

We have a whole University using them on our fleet of IBM Thinkpads and Dell 8200's.

Good find. I recommend these especially for the Dell units, as the keyboard tends to run pretty hard on the screen.

They're just a thin layer that you put on the keyboard when you close the lid. It's a fine way to protect the screen from the keys rubbing against it when closed.

[8D]I would like to say that I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 600m and I bought a Macally Screen protector size 14 inches for Ibook. The screen size is the same. It does not matter that its a dell. They go by screen size not brand. The only complain that I have is that you place the screen to the lcd the heat generated by the lcd makes it come off. Solution to this problem is scotch tape on the sides. They are hardly noticeable. It is a small price to pay to protect the most important part of a notebook. I bought the screen protector at www.jr.com cost $15.00 plus shipping.

So which one is better, this one or the screen savrz one posted earlier. I guess since I already purchase the other one I may as well keep it, about same price and it give you multiple uses with it.

I just ordered one of these custom for my Dell Inspiron 600m. Hopefully it'll fit nicely and isn't too small. If it is too big I can simply cut it to make it fit well.

Those are useless in my opinion. I think they end up distorting the display and offer less value than a cloth.

I'm looking to protect the outside of my laptop as well. Would this do the trick (probably custom-make it to be a little larger to fit the outside)?

I use the foam protector, which was used for shipping my unit , from Dell. Actually, I use the same foam sheet for my powerbook, as well. Are these no good?

    "this" = laptop screen protector

Do they not stick to any surface? I'm looking to protect the outside of my laptop from scratches etc. as well.

I'm looking for a thin layer of protection which I can leave on even when I'm using the laptop (so the foam wouldn't do the trick).

I agree with andy2434 the HP comes with a foam protector. Are these no good? I heard they actully make the screen dirty.

Can this also double as a screen cleaner or do I need to get the Radtech screensavr instead?

Also, does anyone know which one will fit the Fujitsu s6231? (if no, I'll just email them)

    thanks.

yes, most likely. But I'd still like to know the answer to my question (I think they look a little nicer also).

Plus, I'd much rather buy a custom fit than make my own. Your suggestion is much appreciated though. Thanks.

I don’t like the sheets that stick to your displays. They get scuffed up and always start to peel off at the edges. I think the foam and the fabric sheets are best. You can use the one that came with your notebooks. Be careful, if you use something too thick it can damage your hinges. I’m still looking for a replacement to the one I lost (the foam sheet that came with M6811). I refuse to pay 15.00 for a piece of felt.

WHAT kind of Screen protection are you really looking for?
Dust? smudges? or maybe a Cracked screen

one solution to deal with the cracked screen problem is a lapkitt
Not a great website http://lapkitt.com But this does work.
but then again the Aluminum padded cases or cake pans do to.
After my first cracked screen I used an aluminum cake pan (padded)
over the lap top worked fine for years.

If you travel with your laptop it just made sense to me. To at least
try to protect your laptop. Personally have seen far too many broken broken screens so I finally had to design my own protection.
I just could not find anything else available. I am not a big manufacturer guy just 1 person trying really hard to do some small good.

If you are sure you will never break a screen
then maybe the plastic dust covers are good too.

So are you really paying $15 for a piece of felt or is there some added benefit? And I assume no quality difference between the ShaggyMac custom one and the Screensaverz one?

These are not felt, felt is abrasive polyester knapp. Both the ShaggyMac and Screensaver are made from a high end dense microfiber. I use mine to clean my $$$ camera lenses.

Actually the Shaggymacs cost slightly less and also come with a free iklear apple polish single. I just picked up another one for a new addition to the family ;)

They have plenty of stock pc notebook sizes, so you do not need to pay a premium for the custom order models.

just got the shinza ( i love their stuff hee) 15.4 widescreen lcd protecter..yea it looks like a piece of plastice u stick on the lcd.

have yet to try it out once me lappy gets here, but looks promising. its not 'sticky' no adhesive but the side that 'sticks' feels sort of oily, but its not oil..not sure what it is, leave no marks.

its got uv filtration, and it comes to both matte or glossy options.

i got it cos 1 i felt lcd needed sum protecting, uv filtration sounds good and the added bonus is it has the alternative option to transform ur lcd into a glossy/matte preference

will let yas know how it works out. it doesnt look much..just a piece of plastic lol...well PET / sillicone...whatever that is hehe.
