My goal: To get *all* sound to come out the audio-out jack and to my nice sounding speakers....

............. even while the laptop is plugged into the Television via an HDMI cable.

    Clear as mud?

I made a video .... which should make it even less clear... (hopefully not)

Appreciate any feedback on accomplishing the goal.

Thanks for the kind words, but that is quite an overstatement. Without your video and 25 + years experience I would not have had a clue!

Faster way to get to this: right click the speaker icon in the task bar and then click on playback devices, set whichever one you need as the default. Note that some programs will remain on the device which was set as default when it was launched and others will switch devices when you switch.

The best case scenario that you might consider moving up to OP. The reason is that your HDMI is a much richer quality sound than your stereo speaker out. Its also 5.1. One more thing, I believe the stereo out is disabled when HDMI is enabled.
