Hey, guys. I've been looking for a good backpack for my notebook so I can tote it between work and home. However, I've yet to find one that can carry books as well as my notebook. I've got two books I carry to and from work (math textbooks) along with a Toshiba A135-S4487 (15.4"). Can anyone recommend a good backpack that will suit my needs? Thanks in advance.

you might want to chech targus or techair websites. I know a targus model xl which is made for 17 laptops and is really big. I use a targus for 15 laptops and it is fine for books and some sports equipment.

I'll second the Targus XL. I have it for a 15.4" laptop and it's great for carrying everthing I need. It hold all my books for the day, plus computer gear(cooling pad, ac adapter, spare battery) and many other miscilanious items.

Tom Bihn Super Ego with a Horizontal Brain Cell to hold the laptop inside the bag or carry on those fast getaway trips...money well spent if you want a bag that will last for years and years.

If you are on a budget then Targus makes some wonderful and durable bags as does Eastpak. I have an old Eastpak laptop bag I used for almost 6 years now...but it's worn out and won;t hold my new 17" system...hence the new Tom Bihn goodies!! ;) It's just a matter of finding the bag with enough room for the amount of things you want to carry...but remember a big bag usually mens you WILL fill it up with anything you can think of on the off-chance you might need to sometime in the future even if you have never needed it before...trust me on that...hehehehe...I am BAAAAD that way and have to be aware when I am packing my bag. :D

Thanks guys. Can I assume that all these recs are waterproof? I live in Florida and I'd hate to have to run through the rain and ruin my laptop.

the stuff from Tom Bihn is made in Seattle, WA and folks up there do know a thing or two about rain...they make a point of using those really good waterproof zippers and also have a spray they sell to make sure the bag stays waterproof as time goes on.
