My friend and I are each looking for a backpack for a laptop, however we need it to hold a lot of stuff and I am not sure where to start looking.

Price is about 50-75 dollars hopefully.

We need it to have enough space for a MBP-T61p sized laptop so about 1-1.2" for the laptop, it also needs to hold close to 2-3 textbooks, probably 2-3" thick of binders and various laptop accessories like power cord, mouse, various pencils and other odds and ends. All in all, not including laptop there will be about 8" thick atleast if not 10" thick of textbooks and binders plus a laptop, any ideas on a bag that will provide a good hard shell around the laptop so it doesnt get crushed by all the textbooks along with giving us enough space for 8" of stuff with some room to spare?

Thank you for any and all suggestions.

Now I am thinking, it may be more protective and easier to use a semi large backpack I have sitting around that has a few compartments and just slip the notebook in something similar to a Booq Viper or Braincell (Tom Binh) and then slide that into my backpack so it will give it a little more protection than the sleeve in a notebook backpack.
