You probably saw this coming but you wouldn't go wrong with the Everki Beacon, Alienware Orion, or the Slappa M.A.S.K.
Personally i chose the Alienware because it looks the most slim and minimalistic. It's also $20 cheaper than the other said backpacks.
The biggest factor to me when choosing backpacks was whether it made me look like a Ninja Turtle. That instantly made me cross the MASK off my list because of how thick and huge the backpack is. -

Amazing i feel like the front of the bag is armor. I think this bag is going to last. There's other members here who've had the bag longer like bluekornchips. Try asking him.
My only complaint is the chrome alien head. People say that it scratches really easy and i already have 1 very small light scratch. It doesn't really bother me but I assume it's going to be more scratched up. The chrome is similar to the back of iPod Touches so if you've owned one you know it's going to be scratched.
It looks like if i polished the head with a polishing product it would look new. But honestly i don't care if it's scratched up or not. -
Alienware Orion backpack is ok. I had one for a year. The chrome AW head does scratch easy as mine did within the first month. Also the bag began to tear at the shoulder straps and handle. Now I did put about 20 lbs worth of stuff in it. But it should have held better being billed as durable ballistic grade material.
I upgraded to a Slappa M.A.S.K. and couldn't be happier. It has almost twice the room inside and is much more durable. I did rip the handle slightly when I put over 25lbs of gear into it. I was careless with the handle and used it too often, swinging it into my car and picking it up from awkward angles. I called Slappa and told them about it. They sent me a replacement without questions. Then I sent my defective bag back to them with the prepaid label they included. They're support is awesome! They are more exensive but it is well worth it. Especially if you are hauling a 17 inch laptop, a couple books, some computer gear and maybe even an Xbox around all the time. -
Dont go for the Everki Beacon, it's quality isn't that good. Cheap Nylon materials, so-so padding. More gimmicks then anything. Fit and Finish are the same as on my $17 Everki, which is quite sad considering it has already started to fray, and show it's obvious wear.
I recommend going for the AW Orion, Mobile Edge Fastscan 2.0, or the Slappa MASK backpack (looks pretty good).
Here's what I wrote a while back.

I just bought a Slappa M.A.S.K. to replace my Alienware first gen backpack and I couldn't be happier. Great backpack, highly recommended.

Thanks for the info guys.

Have you looked at a Timbuk2 bag yet? I have the Large Classic Laptop Messenger and let me tell you, it is all the space you would ever need with plenty of protection.

I want more info on the older AW bag called Odyssey. Anyone know where I can get one?

Ogio Epic
It doesn't look too flashy. You can get a complete black color with a bunch of pockets! I think it looks stealthy! It's very sturdy too. -
Definitely a good bag.
Have had mine for 2 years now. -

On the off chance you still need it down the road, let me know. -
