    Hello,

Recently I bought a new laptop, the person in charge said I have to charge 8 hours for the 1st charge but I have only charged for 5 hours before my father actually offed the power supply for me without notifying me.

Please advise on what I should do, should I redo the 8 hours of charging?

    Thanks! (I'm new here btw)

Don't worry about it - go ahead and continue charging for a little while if you like, and then you can use your computer. Modern Li-Ion batteries are pretty good when it comes to memory effect and stuff, so you don't have to worry too much about the first charge and all that.

So it is okay if I only charged it for 5.5hours? I can just use it without worrying about having the discharge and recharge my battery? :D

And I do not need to redo the 8 hours of charging?

No no, you do not need to "redo" the initial charge.

    Alright, thanks man! You're a life-saver!

I woke up in the morning, extra grumpy because of that incident, now I feel great and would start using my new laptop :D

just make sure he doesn't get a hankering to unplug it while it's still on. It could turn off/sleep/hibernate as expected, but laptops gets cranky when they have to shutdown for battery life

Chuicy, you don’t need to redo the first charge. But make sure once its charged let it discharge completely. Do this at least twice. It helps to improve your laptop battery life. Read for more details - Laptop Battery Basics For Mobile Workers

Hey chuicy - what do you think of the u460? What kind of battery life are you getting, and what do you think of the build quality of the laptop? Is there anything about it that you don't like? I just ordered it from lenovo's online website and I can't seem to find any reviews on it since its a brand new laptop
