i've seen people ask this several times already and a lot of people have recommended the Bytecc notebook cooling pad. however when i looked at the dimensions, it doesn't seem to be large enough for 17 inch laptops... the dimensions for the cooler is listed as 13.3" x 10.3" x 0.1" but the e1705 is 15.5" x 11.3".

and i'm going by the dimensions listed in this review on notebookreview.com

i just dont want the laptop to be sticking out :p on the other hand, the coolmaster cooler is big enough, but i'm not sure if its any good.

the fan placement seem a bit odd/high to me.... does anyone have any experience with the cooler? or another cooler that they can recommend?

I have the regualr cooler master, originally bought it for my e1505, I had to add some rubber feet to the top for it to sit correctly, the laptops feet fell off the back, I'd say that would happen to you as well with a 1705, the palm rest/lip takes away from the depth a good bit, and I reversed the fans. I like it, I'm using it with an m1210 now, no problems with the back hanging off anymore. You would want the WS model for a 1705 for sure, my 1505 hung over about 1" on both sides with the regular version.

I have the Bytecc cooling pad. Doesn't really accommodate my 17inch laptop. Maybe overlaps by 1/2 an inch on both sides but it does cool it down. It is really load though and the bottom part will scratch whatever surface you put it on.

    mini bump :D

if anyone has any experience or comments with the coolmaster or any other 17 inch cooler, it would be appreciated.

after literally scanning through every cooler newegg has for sale, the only other cooler that is big enough to hold the e1705 is the targus podium cooler

according to the reviews on newegg, it supports 17 inch laptops. but i dont think it does anything other than raise the laptop a bit off the desk so the bottom fans won't be blocked

yeah you might want to wait off until there are more coolers that can fully accommodate 17inchers. But if you need one now then go for it.

I have the ZalmanZM-NC1000 for my 17" dv9000t. It's about 1" smaller on each side of the notebook. It's stable and dosen't slip or move around. Since the laptop is on top of it the smaller size of the cooler does not bother me at all. Dropped my CPU and HDD temps 11 degrees C.
Right now typing this post my CPU is at 21 C and the HDD is 32 C. I think the Zalman performs so well because of the 650 or so holes that cover most of the bottom of the laptop.

I can give you some advice when it comes to the Coolermaster Notepal W1 (3 fans, widescreen version). It does not fit perfect under a 17" (notebook can become stable because length is short. The cooling is not incredible but it cools good.

But I would not advice the Notepal because it can easily scratch your front panel (where you have media buttons).

Any notebook coolers for 17" lately? With the number of 17" notebooks around and the fact that they tend to use high heat graphics cards, I'm surprised. Anything new?
