I know that Sager's have great internal cooling but since I am going to be spending 95% of my time playing games, I'd rather be safe than sorry.
The NP9850 has a huge 18.4" screen so looking for laptop coolers has been tough. People reccomended the NYZT Cyro that fits up to 20" supposedly but while looking at reviews it only cools the laptop a couple to a few degrees and with a cost about $60+ that is not worth it to me.
The only one I tracked down was a Spire PacificBreeze II. It got great reviews and in some cases cooled laptops over 20 degress which is awesome. However, it only can support a 17" laptop max. I was sort of bummed out thinking that I wouldn't find a cooler for my size laptop but then I went on Spire's website and they actually have a PacificBreeze III which is better and can support up to a 19" laptop. However, I can't it find anywhere on the site for purchase... where can I get this cooler? And if there is a better cooler please let me know. Thanks.

Flip a coin. Zalman NC2000 or NZXT Cryo LX. If the coin lands on it's side, then you have to make your own cooler, haha.

The Zalman won't even fit my laptop. It only fits up to 17" and the NZXY's cooling abilities are pretty bad. I still can't find the Pacific Breeze III anywhere... maybe it hasn't been released yet?

Just look online there are numerous reviews of this product. It doesn't cool that much. The laptop coolers that I have seen cool the most are the Vizo Ninjas and Spire PacificBreezes. Unfortunately Vizo doesn't make a cooler that would fit a 19''. Spire does but I can't seem to buy it.

I don't know what reviews you're looking at, you have yet to show me any links to these, but so far from what I've been reading, the Cryo LX has been getting a lot of appraisal from several users.
Most of the M980NU's critical components and fans are in the upper region of the laptop. The Cryo LX fans are also located on the upper region of the cooler. The Cryo LX will cool your laptop very well, end of story. -
I have a 9262 and an NC2000. Your 9850 is only 1.75 inches wider. Looking at the pictures of the bottom of the 9850, I can tell that the feet of your computer will fit just fine on top of the NC2000, and the intakes will all get benefit from the pad's fans. The 9850 will probably hang about .5 inch over the edge on either side of the pad, that's it. It will be fine, stop freaking out over it. I bet the only reason that the NC2000 says it only fits 17" and not larger lappies is because when they wrote up the marketing material for it, there weren't really any lappies over 17". Buy it. You'll be fine.

when it comes to a 17" or bigger gaming/power notebook. there's nothin that can really beat the cryo LX. the key is to power the cooler properly and find the "sweet spot" on the cooler.
p.s. - sup soviet. ready for some turbine action? -

You think it is better than Spire's PacificBreeze II or Vizo's Ninja II? Those are pretty powerful coolers from what I have seen. In one review the Ninja II out-preformed the Zalman NC2000 which is pretty impressive.

And then like I said earlier Spire made a PacificBreeze III that can fit laptops up to 19" but I can't find out where to buy it. I just want to know my options before shelling out $60 for a Cyro LX thats all. -

Did they mention which specific model MBP they used?

the nc2000 is a great product, but it isn't known for it's raw cooling ability or CFM's. there will be some coolers that will beat the nc1k/2k in the coolin department, but the nc1k/2k as a whole package is only beatable by a few. the nc1k/2k doesn't cool laptops with pure CFM like the cryo LX. u have to notice that different manufacturers use different cooling techniques in their coolers.
example: cryo LX - direct/raw CFM; nc1k/2k - channeled air powered by 2 small fans.
and yes, if u can get the cryo LX for $60 bucks, then i would hop on it. that is a great price for the cryo LX. -

I can't see anything on which model it is but it is running pretty high isnt it? Maybe they made a mistake because it says that the CPU was running at 8O degrees C.

Look man, at root, all coolers are just flat hunks of plastic or metal peppered with holes with fans jammed inside. The idea that some dont "fit" certain notebooks is frankly kinda ludicrous. Obviously, ones built to hold 13" laptops aren't going to work that well with a 19" monster, but they will all work somewhat with any size notebook, and as long as they are rated for something relatively close in size, they will fit just fine.

And as long as it isn't a Belkin or a Targus, haha.

just take the 3 most popular ones that are usually suggested on this forum: NZXT cryo LX, zalman nc1k/2k, coolermaster infinite. all 3 of those have very different cooling characteristics, R&D, and demographics. after u experience a proper cooler, that "fits" yur laptop properly, u will never look back to the cheapos and fakes again. -
My point was that he seemed overly concerned with whether or not a particular cooler "fit" his machine. I was trying to disuade him of that. I know crappy coolers are no good. As I said, I have an NC2000 myself, and the one they shipped me with my machine was a PoS.

Vizo products are great just not for what you want.
Please post a picture of the bottom of the notebook and READ the cooler buyers guide to get an idea -
X2P, it's pretty easy to find a pic of the bottom of an NP9850 online with google.

What can't you do with google? If that's the case, then the questioner should have looked at google for advices then come here for help.

How do you know he didn't? My point was that it is easy to find, not that it is something you have to spend 20+ minutes searching for, like the info the OP is looking for. In any case, it would be convenient if he would put the picture in the thread, and this whole discussion is a distraction from the actual issue the OP is trying to solve. So, how about we get back on that?
