I've read the cooling guide but I need a laptop cooler with a diferent set up that is really effective as my laptop gets hot to the point i can't touch the bottom. I have a Alienware m9700. I need a stable platform that can be used on desk or lap but doesn't block the front loading dvd drive. The main concern is the video card as it gets the hottest (sometimes to the point of freezing up) in the middle-back of the computer. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Also are there any good temp monitors for nvidia cards. I can't get nvidia ntune or others to run.

I was gonna recommend the BYTECC Notebook Cooling Pad but you said you wanted to have it on your lap. Though, I don't think the notebook would be that much cooler when the cooler and the notebook are on your lap.
