    Heya all,

I'm going to be getting a new 17-inch laptop soon, and I need a better desk to store it on. I'm not looking for a lap desk, but rather something stand-alone that doesn't take up too much space. I usually use my laptop while sitting on my couch, so if it was something that I could easily roll out of the way or fold it up, that would be great.

I need something big enough to hold my laptop and to have room for a mouse pad next to the laptop. Anyone here had any experiences with any desks like this(good or bad) or know a website I should be looking at?

    Thanks,
    -Chris

    Something like this is nice:

HandStands Adjustable Laptop Computer Desk Stand Walnut Finish

Or, Mobile Laptop Desk-Sturdy Steel Frame-Mahogany

Just throwing out some ideas. You can also get these locally at stores like Walmart. TechniMobli Mobile Laptop Cart, Espresso

    :)

I actually use a wooden fold up TV tray. Its too high for the couch but works well when on a normal chair.

For the record, I think that's a terrible idea OP. The last thing you want your laptop resting on is some flimsy fold-up table. Especially one you can bump into and knock over. My laptop never goes on anything that isn't solid and well grounded (not the electrical kind :p).

Why not just drop your laptop on the ground? Those cheap flimsy things, are an accident ready to happen. As far as I'm concerned, they shouldn't even make crap like that.

I agreed that would be a disaster but I've never had a problem. I'm extremely careful with the laptop. The only problem is when I'm studying or working, I can't write on an un-solid table without it shaking. Still for portability and quick use, fold-up works fantastic!
