I am thinking about getting a 15.4in laptop (Alienware m15x) and i want a case that allows me to operate the laptop while inside. I found the sleevetop, but i don't like the design, the fact that it doesn't zip all the way or seem very portable bothers me.

    Any suggestions?

It might be ok if you are just doing office or browsing (check to make sure none of the vents are blocked). But I wouldn't leave it in a case while gaming. You want to have the best ventilation to keep the laptop cool.

The Pockettop also looks good, but doesn't seem very portable and there is only a handle on one side

Yes i've seen this one from Belkin (and there is another one with square corners) but I dont think it will enter in my bag. This one is more to use alone and to carry it from room to room for example.

Heat build up could be a big concern for such a case.

I dont know for you incubus but for me it would be to use in class only taking notes... I dont think my laptop would overheat because I am blocking a litlle bit the vents.

If its the alienware in your sig, i can almost guarantee you it will. Discrete graphics cards still pump out a LOT of heat when they are idle.

You might want to look into getting a cheap 15" acer or an Eee for note taking, and keep the laptop at your desk for gaming.

It has integrated graphics too. I can switch from the dedicated 8800M GTX to the Intel X3100 graphics.
