Here we have a very professional looking blueprint of my room.

At the top you'll see my happy laptop, sitting on my desk which is built into the wall. The pink spots will be the front speakers of the surround sound system, thats easy.

As for the back speakers (purple spots), I would like to have them be wireless, so I can go with 2 configurations.

Configuration 1 - the blue box with the stripes is my loft, basically a second floor in my room the only extends about 3/4 of the way. The end of the loft is behind and above me when I'm in my computer chair. I'd like to mount the speakers there for when I'm working in my chair.

Configuration 2 - About 7ft behind my chair is my couch, its right against the back wall. I'd like to be able to move the speakers from the end of my loft and put them on the ends of my couch for movie time.

This calls for the 2 rear speakers to be wireless. Does anyone here own a wireless set of surround sound speakers? I'm interested in the quality of their sound and the rate of interference.

I don't really have a cap to my budget, though I'd like to keep it reasonable...cheaper is better just cuz it's winter and work is slowing down.

I've also read about conversion kits for wired systems which can make the back speakers wireless, are these reliable?

    thanks nbr ;)

    hahaha... very professional

if you just keep the rear speakers up/back by the couch all the time.. you won't notice a difference... they are still behind you.

and i've never used wireless speakers so can't comment on that

ive never used wireless speakers, but for high quality surround sound i should imagine that wired speakers are better and possibly just that tiny bit faster,a bit like how a wired mouse is that bit better for gaming over a wireless mouse, so theres no delay with the surround sound effect even if just a fraction, plus you still have to power them anyway, there might be good wireless speakers out there but id always go with wired if you want the very best performance

also, just done a quick mock up of how id have the speakers, and for watching films in surround you want to move the couch out in to the middle of the room to allow the sound to travel properly from the angles , your heads are the 2 green spots, the blue lines are the sound, the yellow the speakers !
