I bought a Logitech Wireless Optical Mouse a few months back and it uses two AA batteries which makes it really heavy to use and it makes my wrist tire quickly and is generally a pain to use now. For some reason I didn't really have this problem early on but not it's becoming a hassle.
So, does anyone have any suggestions for a dependable LIGHTWEIGHT wireless mouse. Maybe bluetooth? I'm thinking of buying a bluetooth mini-pc card for my laptop eventually.

Well, I have the Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse, it uses 1 AA battery. Does a good job and I like the design. Very comfortable to use.

Used both the Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse, and Logitech Wireless Notebook Mouse (optical, V200?).
The MS uses 1 AA and has a receiver dongle that attaches to the mouse when not in use. It has a rather flat profile, with grooves on both buttons for your fingers. If memory serves me correct, the scroll wheel "free wheels" without any "click" or resistance. Because it uses one battery, has a storable dongle, and flat profile, it is rather portable. However, the flat design is too small for my palm and I found it strained my hand after long use. The scroll wheel is too recessed, not sticking out far enough. I also think the single battery design will cut down on battery life. The optical pickup was a little picky on the surface it ran on, and it seemed to lag sometimes.
The Logitech uses 2 AA's, and has a travel pouch to hold the mouse and dongle. The overall design is larger than the MS, with a hump towards the rear. The scroll wheel sticks out the perfect distance, and "clicks" lightly with each scroll, just the right feel. The hump shaped design works well as it conforms to your natural palm position. I believe that the 2 battery design will give it longer usage. The optical pickup is great and works on practically any surface, with no noticable lag.
I use the Logitech, didn't like the MS much. Note that I paid $13CDN for the Logitech! Good deal for a good mouse.
Normal prices seem to be $40CDN for either mouse. At this price I would recommend the Logitech.
However, if you want pure portability then the MS is more suited, but the Logitech is definitely more practical. -
I have the Logitech V500 and it uses 1 AA battery.
Its very light an easy to travel with.

Thanks for all the info. I personally don't really like the design of the MS mouse either, but the Logitech although sounds great, you mentioned that it uses 2 AA batteries. My current Logitech mouse uses 2 of those as well and I find that it gets too heavy for extended use. My wrist tires out quickly when using it.

Inky try removing one of the batteries and see if it works. I have the logitech media play. I noticed that it functions with one battery.
The weight was never an issue for me, although initially I thought it would, I had tried a friend's MX and found it too heavy and I thought the media play would have the same issue (bought it anyway because I loved all the buttons on it), but I was wrong, or I got used to it. -
Klepzeiker im afriad u are mistaken. The v500 uses 2 AAA, im using one now and yes with this mouse you are able to just put one battery in and is still able to work. The v500 appealed to me because of the portability(able to store reciever in mouse) and those sexy curves. But no third button in the middle.

I actually went out to buy a Logitech V500, but couldn't find it at any local stores. I needed a mouse right away, so I just went ahead and bought a Microsoft Wireless Notebook Laser Mouse 6000. All I can say is that I couldn't be happier. It's light, uses only one AA battery, the scroll wheel is very smooth (no clicking), and the general movement of the cursor is so much more responsive than any other mouse I've had. Plus, the color matches my notebook.
