    I'm buying this audio CD
    http://www.amazon.com/Bulletproof-D.../ref=tmm_abk_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&sr=&qid=

Correct me if I am wrong but it does not seem to be a download. It appears to be a physical object because amazon asked me for my shipping address though that may be redundant. It is a preorder so I am not sure.

I have found this thing which I believe will be able to play the audiobook above but I am not sure how to read the specs to see if it will be able to play the audiobook. In general what do you look for?

Amazon.com: LG Electronics Optical DVD Drive GH24NSB0B: Computers & Accessories

    Interface: SATA
    Buffer Memory: 0.5MB
    Operating System: Windows XP/ Vista/ 7/ 8
    Sustained Rate: DVD-ROM: 22.16 Mb/s (16x) max, CD-ROM: 7,200 Kb/s (48x) max-Write Speed DVD+R 24XDVD+RW 8XDVD-R 24XDVD-RW 6XCD-R 48XCD-RW 24XDVD+R DL 8XDVD-R DL 8XDVD-RAM 5X

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CD-ROM

It looks like there is mention of windows 8 but not 8.1 which I have and there is mention of something called "CD-ROM" which I remember from older computers that used to be next to the floppy disk section on my old computer, and I was wondering what specs to look at to see if "CD-ROM" can play the audiobook I am trying to get.

    hi
that drive you linked too is for a desktop i think so it fits in a tower.

for a laptop these are the ones you need to look at as they just plug in the usb port of your laptop Amazon.com: external dvd drive - DVD Drives / Optical Drives: Electronics

the cd rom you mentioned just means it will read the older cd rom discs like it also mentions cd/dvd +/- which are just various makes of disc.

ive had a quick look and most mention windows 8 but not 8.1 but i think they should work and its just the amazon web pages havnt been updated since 8.1 was released.

they normally come with drivers so you just plug it into a usb port and the drivers will load. it will then be recognized in my computer so C drive is your main hard drive and then D will be the external cd/dvd disc drive.
