My HP dv2000t is coming shortly and I am going off to college. I wanted some suggestions for a laptop cooler and also was wondering if a laptop cooler was really necessary at all. Also a good suggestion for a lock, because I've read a few posts saying locks are essential at college. Also what other accessories should I be looking for college? I have a laptop backpack, extra keyboard, and some nice speakers, and Icemat headphones and also am planning on getting the logitech v270 BT mouse.

    Thanks!

    here
is a review of the kensington alarmed lock. all the other locks are really just a cable and lock so those are straight forward to explain. also, malia has a great intro to locks and what not for her kensington lock, just search for it.

    I wouldn't bother.

My dv2000t runs VERY cool! Even when decoding dvd's, while it gets sightly warm on the wrist rest to the left of the touchpad, it is far from hot!

Get your laptop, then see if you really need a cooler. I'd doubt you will find it necessary.

The dv2000 is a very cool running, and quiet laptop!

the dv2000t is NOT very cool. it runs just like the dv6000t, wayy tooooo hot when not on the table. i place it on my lap for a moment and temps rise VERY quickly even when im leaving the vents clear of my legs....cooler is definitely need for actual lap usage.

on the table its reading 48*F right now and my usual is ~46*

i would suggest the Zalman ZM-NC1000. i previously owned it for my 15" acer and it worked great. almost kept the internal fan from even coming on it cooled so well. runs about $50 USD but worth the money. the only problem is it doesnt fit a 17" notebook. too bad for me :(
