Who knows. Everyone has a kensington lock, so if you have the required connection on your laptop, then use it.

Im guessing those VGA locks are for people who dont have a kensington lock.

    Dag,

The kensington locks actually are metal to metal. The area that the lock "hole" is located is re-enforced with metal. That's why the locks are heard to break off in that area. I've actually seen the lock break before the hole.

The lock you have listed in your post that connects to the VGA/Serial port is pretty weak IMHO. The only think that is actually holding the lock in place are the 2 little screw bolts (or whatever they're called). These things are pretty easy to break off a notebook. All that's holding them in place is a thin sheet of metal on the inside. This is the only thing olding those bolts in place. Everything else is around tht area (serial/VGA port) is all made of plastic. I'd go wit hthe lock that connects into the Kensington slot vs the VGA/RGB slot. If someone were to work on 2 notebooks with each lock, the VGA/Serial lock would probably break first.

That's not a problem. There's a lot of mis-information to try to sell their products. Most people out there has never opened up a notebook before, so they kinda base their marketing on that. Luckily, I've repaired notebooks before, so I've seen how the insides are.
