I bought a Logitech Alto Connect Stand/powered USB hub. I plugged my printer, Microsoft keyboard and mouse, and a flash drive into it with no problem. However, when I try to plug my Western Digital Passport into it I get an error that I have exceeded the USB hub power limit and must unplug the Passport and reset the hub.

The Passport works find plugged directly into my Dell 1720.

I don't understand how this can be with a powered hub. I really want to leave the Passport plugged in to the hub and always available. Any ideas?

If you plug only the hard drive in, does that still happen? If so, I would contact Logitech and ask that they replace it. Alternatively, there are some special USB cords that allow you to connect to two USB ports, one for power, the other for data and power.
