Yup you can still use the notebook keyboard even if the USB receiver is plugged in, using only the external mouse. However, I read from other customer reviews [I also considered this external keyboard+mouse combo before] that the mouse eats up batteries way too fast. So I safely stayed away from this set.

Seeing as it's also available in Australia, I'd suggest buying this instead. It is what I ended up buying :) I've been already using it for almost 5 months now and it's been great so far. Just replaced the batteries last week, not the 6 months of battery life they promised, but believe me I'm quite the heavy user! It's AU$20 more expensive than the EX 110, though. But believe me it's worth it. Also, do note that the receiver is quite big. It's actually wired and big, so if that's a problem, I'd suggest buying just a wireless mouse, not the keyboard+mouse combo because they can have bigger, clunkier receivers than just plain wireless mice.
