    Hello,

Has anyone had any experience with this headset or can anyone suggest a good gaming headset (7.1 sound)

I don't need it to talk to people, I want it for games and listening to music.

Getting decent audiophile headphones would be much better than any "gaming," headset, as most of them has poor-mediocre sound to begin with.

    This.

Getting more crisp and clear sounds will improve your hearing experience tenfold. I had the G35 and it was great, but the sounds were REALLY muffled compared to what I use now.

+1 to the good set of headphones. I prefer using my Beyerdynamic DT990s, Sen. HD598 or westone cIEMs, with my blue yeti when I'm at my desk, but I also own the Logitech G930 (wireless version). I love the flexibility it gives me (I can walk all over my house--upstairs, downstairs, etc) and still maintain a great connection for talking on the phone / chat / listening to music while working around the house.

If you're just getting it for listening at your desk though and not worried about the microphone, spend $80-100 on a decent set of headphones and you'll be much better off.

Beyerdynamics are fantastic. I used the DT770 pros for a long time for games with a mod mic. I needed the closed back to isolation. the 770s/880s and the 990s are all very comfortable with very good sound. Many many times better than any 300 dollar gaming headset.

Agree with everyone else. Get a set of entry-level audiophile headphones for about $100. A great starting point is Audio Technica ATH-M50.

If you want virtualized surround sound on top of that, download and install the Razer Surround software. It will do exactly what any surround sound headset will do (take a 7.1 channel input audio signal, and downmix it into virtualized surround sound for playback on 2.0-channel headphones).

Hi, Didn't think anyone was gonna respond to this thread so I ended up getting the HyperX Cloud Gaming Headset.

They seem pretty good but I have nothing from the past to compare it to. Haven't been able to get them to work through Sound Blaster X-Fi MB3 though.
