I just got a G35. I installed and updated the drivers and the surround sound works perfect until I eject the headset and plug in again.
As soon as I plug it in, windows starts installing its drivers even if the logitech exists and after that the surround sound is gone. Trying to turn the switch on or off, it doesn't help. I have to uninstall and resintall the logitech drivers, then it works fine. After that its the same.

Anyone facing similar or have a solution?

Not sure if this is the same as your issue, but I have the G930 (wireless version) and when I used winamp, then fired up Windows media player, winamp through the G930 stopped working. It turned out to be a config issue in Winamp so windows changed or made the default speakers the default ones...Maybe check your config in control panel sound and run the tests to see if it works there?

Thats a problem due to the gimmicky nature of the headphones, if it was a true 7.1 device there would be no problems.

hmmm ive never had this exact issue with my headset although...

Do you by anychance have either evga precision, msi afterburner or similar software installed and running along side the logitech software?

I say this because ever since i upgrade my g35 headset drivers to the newest version that integrates the headset into the Logitech gaming software i have been having gpu driver downclocking (driver crash?) which messes up the logitech software and causes it to freeze (it doesnt actually close). i can tell when it does this since my g15 lcd screen goes blank when it happens. I honestly blame the new software logitech made because its somehow interfering with my nvidia card drivers. When i change my sli setting the nvidia drivers ask me to close the logitech software first because its using the card apparently. (gpu acceleration maybe) Anyway when this problem occurs i lose surround sound functionality on my g35 but sound will come through in 2.0 audio. the only solution i have at the moment is to close evga precision and leave it off when i use the g35. You could try "downgrading" to the previous g35 driver as that was a standalone software and i never had any issues with it. The only reason why i havent tried that is because i have to have the logitech gaming software installed for my g15 anyway. I havent pinpointed the issue exactly but this problem only happens when those two softwares are running at the same time.

Logitech needs to fix this issue by getting rid of the stupid eyecandy or giving the option of basic non flashy windows that dont use the gpu (if this is already implemented then please for the love of my sanity tell me how to enable it) maybe flash is the culprit i dunno.

I haven't installed any of the softwares. Also, I have only installed the latest G35 drivers. Do I need to install the logitech software too since I only use the headset?

if you dont have the logitech software installed then you dont have the latest drivers as the logitech gaming software includes the latest version of the headset software. if you dont use any of the programs i mentioned then you should have no issues with the newest software version.

what you can do is unplug your g35 and remove all your current g35 software. download the latest version of the software from the logitech website
    (link: G35 Surround Sound Headset)
after you finish downloading install the software. Dont plug the headset back in until the software is finished installing and running. Once you plug the headset in is should automatically install anything it may need and come up on the logitech software.
    It should look like this

if you still have issues then you can try (with the headset still plugged in) open up your device manager and find the logitech headset in the list.(it should be under sound, video and game controllers on win 7) once you locate it right click it and choose uninstall also check the box that says remove driver software then click ok once it removes the headset unplug it and remove the logitech software if its not already gone and reinstall it. then plug the headset back in and it should fix any issues you may have. (i stress should because with computers you never know :p)

    Thanks for the link.
I did installed it before but it was not detecting my headset.
Now its working fine and I guess I'm getting a big bass boost.

if you dont like the bass boost or you want even more bass there are like 3 different spots to turn the bass levels up on that head set (not counting the equalizer)
just be careful and do little increments at a time to get the desired level since blasting full bass will sound terrible.

    1. is in the windows playback devices. right click the headset and go to properties. under the tone tab (on win 7)
    2. is in the logitech software under customize audio experience
    3. is in the logitech software under customize surround sound (you can turn the volume of the "sub channel" up or down)

these combined give a pretty broad level of bass you can adjust to you own personal preference. (treble also)

That is such a monumental load of BS from someone with really questionable levels of experience given his apparent expertise that I can't even begin to comment on how misleading that is.

OP, if you get the issue again make sure you're not on a hub to start with. Glad you got it sorted out though - most issues can be solved with a simple remove, making sure you follow the instructions on when to remove and reconnect your headset.

Personally I had a few problems installing the latest (and much-changed) driver, although I like it: I had to go into Device Manager and let Windows find the driver after installing the new drivers. Since I like to run as a Standard User, that was slightly more complicated than it might otherwise have been as I had to log off and log back on as an administrator of the PC.

The issue arises when I was using the driver that came with the package but after installing the logitech software, its gone.
Although windows keep on trying to install its own driver, I simply cancel it and everything works fine.

And I also hate the part that it doesn't allow us to choose 5.1 but strictly 7.1 only.

exact same issue happened with me. toggling the surround on-off switch didn't do anything. it was fixed after installing the latest logitech software, and i had the same impression that the sound became much more "bass-ier". which i didn't like. haha. :)

i've had my G35 for almost 2 years and my main gripe with it is the "leather" coating on the foams are already peeling off. it's a non-issue for the most part but it just looks awful once you get them headphones off. haha.

But I guess the sound quality is worth the price.
