-
damn ugly
thats all I can think -
Not that bad looking..
Kinda like a merged Media Cordless Mouse and the MX1000 -
Those mice are way cool and I'm gonna buy one of them to use with my Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo M3438G 17" DTR-notebook (and with my X-RAY Thunder 8 -mousepad). The only problem is which one am I going to get.
It terms of coolness, G7 takes the cake. I really like those colours it has (I'm told that although it looks like green, it's actually more blue). And it's a definate plus that Logitech has corrected some of the (minor) flaws of MX1000 and so G7 is more suited for gaming. Alas, the downsides are the batteryswapping (I mean who has the energy to swap one battery to the other in the middle of a gaming session). Also, the loading dock takes space and an outlet. Furthermore, I'm not sure if that flash-memory looking stick is the 'receiver' but if it is and if it is meant to be put to a USB-slot than that's a problem because the USB slots on my notebook are on the right side (where I keep my hand, mouse and mousepad). Also, the mouse is a bit on the heavy side. But it does look darn cool.
G5 looks like MX518 but better. It does have a cord and the cord makes it handy to a notebook-user, sort of a plug 'n' play mouse. Also you don't have a docking station and you don't have to sacrifice an outlet. G5 includes some weird weights with which you can regulate the feel and movement of the mouse or something.
I've understood that mice are identical in shape, so ergonomics are the same apparently. Also, both mice include those mousefeet (or skatez, made form teflon) that are already on so you don't need to buy any Hyperlides or anything anymore.
Okey, so it seems it comes down to this: G7s coolness vs. G5s notebookfriendliness. Which is going to be the winner?
Any opinions? -
Oh Hell, just get BOTH!
One for use at home/work and the other for traveling -
damn those things are expensive ... considering I got my MediaPlay for 35 and at the time i thought it was a bit more than it should be ...
Ah well give it a few months and prices will go down ... but that G7 sure looks nice. I am gonna have to go test drive it ... I am way too picky over the feel of a mouse, i tend to prefer the ones designed for right and left handed people -

The mx1000 currently retails at $90 CDN, and that's one hefty price tag.
I can see it starting at $150+ for them -
i just bought myself the g5 the past weekend. great mouse. got it for about 50 bucks canadian which is pretty expensive for a mouse in my opinion but on the other hand after using it, it was worth it. i do some light gaming ( counterstrike source) and after getting used to the high dpi, I must say it was alot easier to aim and to look around.

nice thread revival...
-
well its a tad better than making a new one.
yes, the g5 is a nice mouse. -
i'd stick with the mx1000 if it wasnt so darn heavy. it fits my hand nicely. i also have the g5 and g7. currently using the sidwinder on my laptop and g9 on my desktop.

i thought mods would rather have someone create a new thread rather than revive an old one

Either way. I have both and they're great except when the microwave is on in the other room or if you have a "wireless heavy" house hold (G7 only). You should be able to find the G5 in the BF2142 Combo bundle for like $30. Strip the graphics and you get this.
Wet Sanded after taking apart. Very easy job to do. -
ohhh never knew you could strip off the graphics for the battlefield version... could have saved 20 bucks. sorry for reviving an old thread, i was researching which mouse to buy on this forum and used this thread for info to help my decision to buy the g5
-
Isn't the G9 out already?
-
I personally wanted the VX nano because of the small USB receiver...but it was $90, pretty expensive for me, so I ended up getting the V200...still pretty good for the price

I would like to know this before buying of G5 (blue one with two buttons on the left side):
Is it possible to have these operations on different buttons simultaneously?
1) Click
2) Minimize All
3) Context Menu
4) Enter
5) Double-Click
6) Cut
7) Copy
8) Paste
Could somebody post complete list of operations for each button of G5?
Thank you in advance -
hehe...i was just about to take out money from my wallet & pay for g5..then the phone rang...my friend said 'look for deathadder its the best moust'...i went home looked around...realised...then went next day to the same place and bought my Deathadder...will never regret that decision...
Although G5 does look good & its logitech after all -
bit out off topic but which to go for of mx revoltuion and g7 both cordless, and g7 is very much g5 without the cord
thought of deathadder but ppl said is more of gamming mouse ? so looking for a general purpose good mouse, possibly without cord
am not much of a gamer and am a programmer
please suggest -
programmer means u spend lot of time on computer and u need comfortable mouse...Deathadders surface is irresistible...it is smooth & keeps your palm dry
Another reason it is cheaper than logitechs
