the second one needs batteries, the first does not. The second one also limits transfer rates for lesser windows versions. The other differances are quite minor and aside from the color, they would be unnoticeable.

The G5 with the crackling effect is the newer updated version while the rustic gray/brown is old inventory retailers are clearing out.

    Both are wired.

Where are you getting all of that from? Both G5s are wired, and therefore need no batteries, and the polling rate limitation is a function of SetPoint and not the mouse itself.

The more expensive G5 is simply a minor update of the original, and the only differences are that it has two thumb buttons and a spiffy new colour scheme.

The 1st one is the new G5 that I have kept posting after your posts when you talk about buying a G5... *sigh*

Nevermind :) One last time, updates made

    I got the cheaper G5.

The other one only had an extra thumb button.

And no it doesn't use batteries.

Well it is a great mouse!

Im running at 1500 DPI, 2000 DPI is just a bit too much for me right now.

Works great in games and apps!

Next you should learn not to trust Best Buy's product descriptions.

Thats exactly why I asked here, I had compared them on Best Buy's site but I knew something was wrong.
