Hey guys, I want to get a new mouse for my Novatech X50 laptop coming in a few weeks, and I really feel like going for wireless, not that I have a problem with wired but I hear the Logitech G7 is a fantastic mouse for being cordless, every review I hear is positive, the only problem is the battery which I can deal with charging every so often. Are their any better mice than the G7, that are cordless?

I was hoping some people own the Logitech G7 could answer these questions,

How long you had the mouse and if it still works great?
Did the logo or anything fade away from use? my Mx518 faded so! :p
    Is it worth £56?

Finally, anyone in the UK know where to get it for cheaper than £56?

    Thanks! :)

When I was looking for my notebook mouse I looked at this one since I liked the look, the full size and that it looks very similar to shape and size of the G5 wired which I like. My main reasons for staying away from it were the price and some of the reviews on newegg. It comes with 2 Li-ion batteries that are removable and rechargeable. From the reviews I read, people say it is a very nice mouse but goes through these batteries very quickly, to the point where people have to constantly swap between the 2 batteries(got very annoying). Also replacement batteries are said to be impossible to find, even from logitech. With all these issues, I decided to stay away from it. I would say you should check out the reviews from newegg and amazon. Also check out the link in my sig for which mouse, where there is a pretty extensive discussion on all kinds of wireless mice. I personally choose the Vx Revolution wireless and I love it, best mouse I have ever had by far.

Do you care if the mouse is bluetooth or RF? What are your other requirements in the mouse?

What's the G7? I never really thought about BT or RF, what's better?

Upon doing further research, I've found the battery life is crap "well for a constant user" like myself, 8 hours!

I've now looked at the MX and VX revolution, as Fire Snake mentioned, but I'm skeptical on how it performs on gaming, FPS for example! I use an MX518 and it needs to be atleast as quick as that or I'll feel odd!

Anyone else own a VX Revolution?

I do. It goes up to 800 dpi, unlike the 518 and G7 which go up to 2000 dpi. Will that affect you? You decide. Wireless mouse will almost always have a slight slowdown compared to wired mice, or at least at current levels of technology.

Since the G7 runs on the exact same frequency as the VX and MX, I don't see it being any more responsive, except for the increased precision.

Ah, how is FPS gaming for you? do you wish you could aim around quicker and move the scroll around superfast? or are you accustomed to it now?

I understand Wireless mouse won't have as good a DPI compared to wired, but I'd think Logitech would still put the effort in for decent gaming!

Well, 2000 dpi for the G7 is pretty much standard for decent gaming mice. The 800 DPI on the VX doesn't bother me as I don't play FPS online with my VX. It works fine for RPGs and RTSes. Didn't give me problems with Bioshock either.

Ah I guess it's settled then, I can always keep my MX518 for a backup! :p

Thanks dtwn83, and to everyone else who posted! :)

Pretty much. Since your MX works, give the VX rev a shot, and see if it works out for you. If it doesn't, you always have your MX518.

    Glad to help.

I loved my G7. I was amazed after I bought my new lappy at the fact that it wouldn't charge. I was forced to run out and buy the MX518. I wont lie, I miss my G7. That is the first time I ever had a problem with logitech.

I would buy a G5 or a G9 if I wanted the precision of a mouse without the hassle of batteries!

The G7 is quite pricey too, I cancelled my order and now my mum owes me £50! :p

personally i'd recommend you go with razer, i tried g7 for a week and for some reason the programmed buttons would not stay for long in games.... setpoint in my opinion is a ***** to use.

with the razer's program, i found it so much easier to use and it actually works without any issues.

I may be too late but I really enjoy my G7. I have a Logitech MX Revolution and A G7 and I use the G7 at home all the time I like the quick change batteries and it just works well. I do love my MX Revolution too I actually have two of them now and it is a nice mouse for all purposes.
