Im in desperate need of a new mouse. I have an older three button logitech but I want wireless cause when ever I game the wires always get tangled up near my laptop also the mouse is just old and doesn't click all the time. I have looked at all the mice know to the market but there isnt anything that even looks worth spending on.

The logitech G700 I have never liked the looks of or the feel of it. I think I may just end up getting it anyway cause it has the micro usb receiver which I definitely need.

The orochi goes to sleep after 2 seconds and lags when it comes to also the bluetooth is not fast enough for my gaming wireless needs. The mamba still uses wires and a huge receiver. Why in gods name can they not make a mamba with a mini micro usb reciever like the roccat pyra or G700. If some new mice would come out that are wireless but no gaming mice are.

Last I have the roccat pyra which suits my needs the most out of all of them but it costs 120 dollars and for that type of mouse is just to expensive for my pockets ala my wallet isnt burning that bright. none of them are worth buying and any other gaming mice dont interest me in the least. Should I just buy a crappy wired cheap gaming mouse till something that suits me better comes out?

edit: here are a few pictures of the new mouse I got

For my wireless gaming needs I use the G7, they do not make it anymore I guess the new version of it would be the G700.

I have the Orochi now got it on sale and wanted to try a bluetooth mouse out. Its pretty good with bluetooth and the sleep issue not bad at all on the new firmware. The pause is very slight and only happens when it has been sitting for a while. I can tell though that its not very high performance in bluetooth mode when I need the accuracy of the mouse to scroll and select a single letter it have trouble with it doing small movements not moving as it should, possibly interfearance to the bluetooth due to the wifi.

Its pretty small for a mouse so if you like full size mice its not a good idea.

I would say the Logitech VX Nano is a very logical alternative to the Orochi its about the same size, and uses the micro usb dongle and it seems to perform better to me by a good margin.

I had the Mamba too and like you said its useless for laptop use as the receiver is the entire dock, way to large to pack up and store for the normal mobile loadout.

In your case maybe hunt down a G7 on ebay or something if you can find one cheap it may fit your needs pretty well. It fits like the G5 and MX518 and its high performance usb wireless and unlike all the other wireless mice it has its own battery & charger with dual batteries so you just swap them out when the low battery indicator comes up and never have to worry about a dead battery or having to purchase new batteries.

Real simple 2 second slot loaded battery, its pretty cool.

Take a look at the VX Nano too, they go on sale pretty cheap at times.

Well, what specifically didn't you like about the Logitech G700? It is a full-contoured mouse, really intended to be used with people with full-sized hands that prefer a palm grip. Do you not like the palm-grip, or do you not like the size in your hands?

You may also want to consider the Logitech Performance MX. I actually use two mice on my laptop - Logitech G700 (at home) and Logitech Performance MX (on the road). I strongly prefer the Logitech Performance MX when I'm travelling. The batteries last MUCH longer than a wireless "gaming"-grade mouse (2 weeks vs 2 days per recharge), the weight/balance feels better for me, and it can mouse on any surface (including glass or polished granite). You do give up some DPI and USB polling rate speed, but it is a fair trade-off for the benefits you get out of this excellent wireless mouse.

Really, gaming with a wireless mouse is a bit of an oxymoron. I never understood why someone would want to handicap themselves further in an FPS by going with a wireless rodent. It's like taking a knife to a gun fight. Yeah, the knife can kill, but a gun can do it a helluva lot more efficiently.

Anyway, the Mamba is both wired and wireless, and while the receiver is rather big, it's still one of the top gaming mice on the market. Past that, I really like the Logitech G700, it's a terrific mouse with a plethora of features. But honestly, do yourself a favor and suck up the wired issue on mice.

6 months ago, I would absolutely 100% agree with you. Wired mice always operate at 100% performance, never need batteries, and never suffer from wireless interference.

But owning an Alienware M11x made me realize that I am often in situations where wired USB is inconvenient. A USB plug + wire takes up about 3" of usable space on the right side of my laptop. Plus, there are wires hanging around that can get tangled and get caught on things. Most of the time, this is not an issue. But on something like an airline eating tray sitting in coach class, 3" of space is quite a premium.

So, I tried out a few wireless mice. I still prefer wired for performance reasons, but am willing to use wireless (and deal with all of the downsides of wireless) if it means that I get the convenience that I can't get with wired.

Hardcore gaming on an airplane... now I have heard of everything. Most games that I play on an airline can be done with the trackpad. RTS games and Turn based... no FPS for me while up in the skies.

I see the point of a good wireless mouse, but if your trying to play hardcore, you might as well make the room for the cable. When traveling, I use my GF's wireless mouse... its a small logitech one and gets the job done. Requires 1 AA battery and lasts nearly forever with it.

I suggest the G700 for the OP if we are not thinking outside of the box.

For me it is the exact opposite... I cannot game with wired mice, and find that using a wired mouse is the equivalent of using a knife in a gunfight. The cord provides resistance that interferes significantly with the FPS gaming that I do, and gets stuck on all sorts of things. My G700 has no lag at all, and more importantly no annoying cord to interfere. It does need to be charged rather frequently, but I am well willing to accept that for the advantage it gives.

Im more into this ideology when it comes to wireless. Its probably because I want to see more wireless alternatives.

The g700 is to me just gaudy looking. I remember one time taking a look at the g500, it was one that was red and looked like it had gun shot dings in it, there was also one silver with the same design. I was compleatly taken back, it was horribly ugly and I could never see how it could be used for gaming. Iv always used mouses similar to the design of the mamba and deathadder. Sleek and comfortable on the eyes and hand.

The G700 is also huge, it dont need to be that big and tall. I Want to fit it into an small 13.8 inch breif case for my laptop when I go out into the city. I know alot of people like the logitech series mice but Iv awlays stayed clear from them. I need to find something online before tomarrow though. Maybee a cheap deathadder?

You are very specific about what you want.

I think you need to decide what qualities about a mouse you prioritize above others. If you want full-performance, then I think a wired mouse would suit you better than wireless.

If you want wireless, then your only real options are the Razer Orochi (no!), or the Logitech G700. You may also go with the Logitech Performance MX or the Logitech Anywhere MX, which both sacrifice performance for other qualities that may be desirable in a mobile mouse (e.g. battery life, ability to operate on any surface including glass, etc). You may consider the Saitek Cyber R.A.T. 9, but it costs $130. You may consider the Razer Mamba, but it has a large wireless base and costs $130.

The Rat 9 has a large dongle so that isnt what I want. I have decided to get a logitech G700.

The G700 may be on the large size which makes it a little harder to transport, but I find that the larger size makes it very comfortable for my hand (I have large hands though). It is not meant to be a mobile laptop mouse, but rather a gaming mouse, so it doesn't have a small form factor. However the receiver is incredibly small and actually fits into a slot in the battery compartment, so you can transport the mouse as one unit if you want (or just leave the receiver in your laptop since it protrudes less than a centimeter).

i have owned many gaming mouses, mamba, razer copperhead, lachesis, logitech g9/ g9x.

on christmas i got the g700, at first i thought i was not going to get along with the design. But as a matter of fact, it is the best mouse i have ever owned. It feels naturally in your hand. Not to mention the extra buttons, wireless with tiny micro usb, on the fly sensitivity, 1000 r/s and 5700dpi.

Maybe it's because I have very large hands but I found the G700 to be too small for me. Right now, I'm using a Cyborg Rat 7 and I think that's the best mouse for FPS games. I tried playing FPS games with the G700 and I could not get used to it. Also since I game on a desktop, I don't see too much of a point in charging a mouse like the g700 every other day.

Got the logitech g700 today. There was a coupon for 10% off at overstock.com so I went with that, 80.11 shipped to the door. The best part is no wires! hahah...i had a dream, it was weired too. I dreamed that I was wondering where the mouse was and to my amazment the mouse had fallen and broken on the street leading up to where Im at. I got a team of experts to fgure out how this happened and what to do haha...It was cracked in half on the street, I was like ... and it was funny. This was just few hours before it actually arrived.

Not to be overexcited but it seems like a great mouse and exactly what I needed. Its not to big like I had thought. What mousepads to you guys/gals use with it?

So far using this mouse has been perfect for call of duty black ops. The mad cats cyborg mouse I have seen many videos of people having trouble with it because of tilting back and forth when the left thumb grib is tight then when its not tight it doesn't tilt back and forth. I bought a mad cats controller once from target, and threw it out after a few minutes cause it had almost 2 seconds of delay when using it so im wary of anything mad catz, but the mouse has cought my eye of course if it wasnt for the tilting of it id be saving for one.

just a update, while this mouse is more for the mmorpg player which I am but playing black ops lately it has really improved my game 10 fold with the much needed added buttons I didnt have on my old logitech from years ago which was only a two button.

I had 4 or 5 commands I couldn't all fit in the space I had layed out on my laptop so the only solution was to get a mouse to give me enough buttons to do that. I love the size of it and the feel of it, very happy with it.

I think you need to wipe the dust off of your Y460 there! I also have a Y460 with a G700 mouse (as you can see in my signature). I use the OCZ behemoth mousepad, although it is very large and probably wouldn't fit on your desk. However, it has a lifetime warranty (which is kind of odd for a mousepad...).

You cant see it with your own eyes, its micro fibers. Anyway I have this I got from office max, its a lcd cleaning kit, 10 bux but you can use the micro fiber brush on other parts of the laptop besides the lcd. The other side is a phoam pad with a lcd friendly cleaning sheet you spray the fluid on too then you can clean your lcd with it ;) For times when theres just dust tho you can just use the brush on it.
