I just accidently left my Logitech V450 in my class and of course it was gone when I came back. I'll make a trip to CC or CompUSA tomorrow to get this mouse. ****, I love that V450 too and just purchased it a month ago.

    I got this from extremetech

I read the website, and still don't understand the purpose of the second wheel. Is the normal wheel normal speed, and the thumb wheel the high-speed one?

No the wheel on top does both, clik by clik and free wheeling. Really you don't have to put it on free wheeling as if you give it a good spin the pages will go flying.

its true, I checked the battery life left on the vx and it says 120 days, assuming you're using it the same amount everday, its really cool. you can switch it to how many percent left as well and all this from an AA battery.

the top wheel is the normal one, it auto detects between normal spin and super fast spin and it does it accordingly. the thumb one isn't a true "wheel". you can sort only rock it back and forth and click in.

Well, I just got the mouse and I have to say that it's an improve over the V450 that I had.

When you get the mouse and plug in the USB dongle, do all the buttons work or do you need to install the Setpoint software?

I already have the setpoint software because I had Logitech V450. So far I like it but I think the V450 has better shape.

I don't remember since I already had the setpoint software installed for my g7, but I do believe you need to install the software in order to utilize all the buttons. but you can just plug and go for regular use without installing the software.

I love this VX mouse but am wondering if there is a way to get a extra dongle, one to leave in the docking station and one to put in my laptop bag?

WOW been out of the loop for a while now, been busy with school and coop. Geez what a mouse. Looks like ill be upgrading from the v400 to this puppy but best buy and futureshop dont get it till sept 29 according to the website.

Ive read like 3 reviews and all of them were really good so im definatly gonna pick one up as soon as its released.

btw where is coriolis? he may be interested in this

    edit:

Just purchased one at canadacomputers. This thing far surpasses any notebook mouse ive ever had. I dont need to use a magazine as a mouse pad anymore when im on my bed like i did with the v400. The flywheel has an awesome feel and really is great with long scrolling. I also love being able to turn the mouse off. This definatly is the perfect notebook mouse imo.

Not only do I like the feel, the long battery life off a standard AA, and then nifty scroll wheel...but I also like how inserting the USB dongle into the mouse automatically turns it off. This way it won't accidently turn on in my bag!

For someone who dont care for the extra buttons and the new scroll wheel, is the vx worth the extra money for its better shape???(or does it have any other benefits?)

If you don't care about the extra buttons, I think you should get the V450 instead because the shape is better IMO.

I gotta agree. I saw the VX the other day and that thing is tall. It sort of looks like a V400 that got morphed into a VX. I don't know how else to put it. The Logitech website pictures make it look better than it does in real life.

it all comes down to how you like to hold your mouse/whats comfortable/size of your hands. like i said before its just a preference. I like the fact that the dongle can be inserted into the mouse, so you wont lose it, i love the shape and the way it feels in my hand A LOT more than the g7, long battery life and uses regular cheap AA. its a hair taller but shorter. but if you dont care for the buttons or the wheel than better save your money and get something else. i got this and the mx for the desktop and these are the best mice I have ever used, period.
