I'm looking into a mouse to play World of Warcraft with. I was looking at these two but had some questions.
1. On the Mx518, are the two thumb buttons kinda awkward to press?
2. On the G5 is the middle button easy to press?
I like how the Mx518 has the two thumb buttons but I went to Office Depot and some of the other mouses had the two thumb buttons but were awkward to press.
Thanks

lots of people have complained about the middle mouse button being hard to press on the G5, but i personally have no problems with it. i would go to best buy and try it out for yourself though. either mouse should more than suit your needs since wow is not an intense FPS. good luck

I have the Mx518 and the MS Intelli 1.1 , personally i like'em both.
1. the two thumb buttons are not awkward to press. I play CS and W0W with the mx518. The only issue i have is its kinda big for my hand.
2. Never played on a G5 -
I never had a problem with my G5, and to note my hands aren't that large either.

I have went through this discussions as well.

I also went through the round about wanting 2 thumbs clicks.
I got the MX518 (rebranded by Asus), its perfect for my needs and gaming. And it looks great.
Like I said in my thread:
- MX518 looks like its been chucked against the wall a couple of times.
- G5 looks like a rusted metal mouse.
(dumb graphic designers wanted to try something new i guess.) -
The G5 has max DPI of 2000 vs 1600 on the MX518, but the extra 400 isn't really important, unless you play lots of FPS and need super accurate aiming. And yes, the 518 has an extra side button which is useful to macro an extra action which the G5 can't.

Gophn why or how did you get a Asus branded mouse if you have a Sager system?
Edit: Whoops sorry for bringing this thread back. -

omg mx518 vs g5 again... we should just put them all together in a sticky.

I have mx518 & it works well on FPS games like COD4/Crysis.BTW I try G5 before buy mx518,but extra side button on mx518 is always better & dpi difference is not a big deal.

G5 is better if you do photoshop or you are a high sens player.

I'm very satisfied with my MX518

I already know that overall the MX518 is probably better. If you look at Mouse roundup from 1 site they ranked it second overall out of like 30 mice and the G5 was around 15 because of its poor response in high speed movement.
But my question was about Gophn's Asus branded MX518. -
i had the MX518, the middle button was very hard to press and awkward, so i hat it changed and got the G5 which i think is loads better.
oh and u can get a two thumb button version of the G5 also -
I'm completely satisfied with my G5. The on-the-fly DPI switching is easy and comfortable to press, and it helps me aim a lot better than before.
P.S. Please note that the G5 now has 2 side buttons. -
stop the posting oh man close this thread ahhhhhhhh
edit: oh ya...casual gamer, using g5 v2. its fine. not being able to map the two sensitivity keys to anything else is dumb though, IMO. -
I have both.
At first it was difficult to get used to the middle button click on the G5, but it's great now (and the wheel is also more comfortable to use).
I'm talking about G5 v2 (with 2 side buttons)
