I have been using my new Nano and it's great, love the small receiver and very easy to use and accurate. I love it but I have to concede that the Microsoft Bluetooth 5000 is better. It has all the same features as the Nano but it costs less (if you order from Newegg.com $32) and it doesn't take up a USB slot and it is just as accurate, no lag or problems with connectivity at all. Just my $0.02 for those in the market for a new mouse.

So you have played/tested with both these mice?
I've been looking into getting the Nano when I get my new laptop, but a bluetooth mouse with good response would even be better considering I wouldn't need a dongle that I could lose. -
yup the nano i've been using for two weeks now everyday and the microsoft bluetooth for about a week or so intermittently and it works great. they're both great it's just that if i knew ahead of time i would have gotten the bluetooth mouse so i don't lose a port because performance wise there is no difference. but the nano did come with a battery and a cool little pouch and the option to use it with a desktop, the microsoft mouse does not come with those lil perks. not that it makes a big difference but they're nice anyway

I found that the Microsoft Bluetooth 5000 has a dpi of 1000, while the Logitech VX Nano has dpi 800. Hmm, I would prefer a mouse with sidescroll capability. I think the Nano could be programmed to use the side buttons for sidescrolling, but I would also would like better sensitivity.. I like the look of the Nano, but I dont like the look of the 5000, just looks to Microsoft..
Haha, I've put myself of these mice now >.< -
the nano does have side scroll, you just tilt the wheel left or right, also it has free scroll, where you can switch between reqular, an free where the wheel keeps spining, its sweet

i personally like the look of the microsoft mouse but maybe that's because they did a great job brainwashing me over the years. i have the microsoft wireless desktop kit with the keyboard and mouse and that's been great, battery lasts me 4-5 months at a time on the mouse and 6+ months on the keyboard. but i did have a few lemons when dealing with microsoft in the past so i was scared to try the new stuff. guess they got a little bit better now.

Hi!
I have the Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse 5000, and I really like it!
Now, I only use it when I am sitting at my desk, or when I have taken my lappy outside of my home ~ but it has worked well for me and I have no complaint on it whatsover. -
I personally have a BT 5000, and friend has a VX Nano.
1st thing: Bluetooth is pretty laggy, it's pretty bad for me, so if you're doing gaming it's not so bad
2nd thing: battery on bt 5000 is pretty mediocre, i get 3 weeks on eneloops
3rd thing: if you have big hands, bt 5000 won't be comfortable, vx nano is more ergo
4th thing: microsoft laser technology sucks. I can't even use my mouse on a white piece of paper, yet I can with the logitech
so yea, I'd probably recommend the vx nano. Bluetooth is great b/c it requires no extra connectors, but the Vx Nano receiver is so small it doesn't intrude -
OH god thanks for the really good insight neo!

Could anyone recommend a place where they sell cheap vx nanos? somewhere in san francisco?

did you try online stores like www.newegg.com and www.tigerdirect.com - they might have free shipping and no sales tax.
