i finally broke down and got the vx nano because it was on sale for $50. most places around me have it for $70-$80. personally, i think you should get the vx because of the extra buttons and features, and try to get it on sale. i don't think it's worth more than $50. also, do you have big hands? if so, then you should probably avoid this mouse altogether and get the vx revolution. or the mx. i forgot. anyways, i don't have BIG hands, but the nano is borderline in comfort for me. i stuck with it, i got used to it. i like it alot. the "nano" receiver is really nifty. i've taken my notebook with me twice since i got it, and i didn't have to take out the receiver. it's not really a big deal having the smaller receiver and being able to leave it in, but to me it does lessen the chance of the receiver breaking, wearing out or getting lost.

sorry wrong thread XD

Great mouse. The nano receiver stays in the USB port so no chance of it getting lost, broken, or dirty. The mouse is very responsive, maintains a great signal (FAR greater reliability than the initial bluetooth mouse I purchased to go with a bluetooth nano receiver by Kensington). This never loses the signal.
I couldn't be happier. In fact, I bought one for each of my three laptops. It is very popular in the stores this summer...a little difficult to find at some Best Buys. -
If you're going to get the V450 Nano try to get it on sale because I don't think regular price is worth it... you can already get a VX Nano on sale. I got my V450 Nano for $29.99 at Fry's. I know the VX Nano can go on sale for $40, sometimes even lower. So you decide as to which price suits you better, and also if your hands would feel comfortable on the mouse.
And as the other guys have said, the receiver is small enough to almost ignore. You can leave it in the USB port without having to worry so much about it getting hit and broken. Response wise I can only attest for the V450 Nano because that's what I have and it's rather good. Haven't ran into mouse lag and I play FPS games just fine with it too. It's just what I expect out of the mouse. The mouse clicks though are loud so that may be annoying and it uses two AA batteries which makes it kind of heavy. But then you may not think like me... -
I recently had $40 in giftcards for Staples so I went in with the intention of getting a VX Nano. They didn't have it so I ended up getting the V450 Nano instead.
I haven't used the Nano for comparison, but the V450 is a great mouse so far. It is smaller so if you have large hands it might be uncomfortable to use.
Like already stated, the receiver is small enough to leave in a USB port, but if you do need to take it out, the mouse does have a spot to store it in the battery compartment.
The two AA batteries may weigh more than AAA batteries, but they will also provide longer run time.
Overall, I'd say that it's an extremely solid laptop mouse. It may not have a lot of bells and whistles, but it will be an extremely reliable mouse from a company that doesn't let you down very often. -
(Thanks for the tip. I didn't realize there was a spot for the receiver in the battery compartment. Not that I ever remove the receiver, but it is still good to know just in case.) -
ok... guys, does anyone use this mouse for a longer time, extensively etc? what about the surface finishing (or how to call that), won't it flake off or become ugly in some other way shortly?
i'd like to buy a new mouse, the nano receiver is a great thing, but vx nano is kinda too expensive for me (no nice price here) and i don't really like the shape of v550, so this one looks like the right choice... unless it becomes shabby quickly.
thanks -
having both vx revolution and v450, i have to part with vx.
the sensor, while both are laser, vx rev. does it better and consistency on more different surfaces...
in terms of battery life goes, 2AA on v450 lasted me 2-3 months
1AA use on vx rev. nets me 1-2 months, so power consumption is approximately the same for me...
given the ratio of mAh difference between AA and AAA (2000 vs. 950 at least on a rechargable), i might have to say AAA will last 1month max for me if there is no difference in terms of how i use a mouse.
quality: they are approximately equal, while my v450 tells me it will survive until the next ice age, i travel with vx much more often and remain strong, no part is falling off nor pilling out on both units, but the lightness from vx does give me a less secure feeling; but it is not fair to conclude v450 is better because after having vx i seldom go back... just like after having series of hot with your new girl, you don't find the previous one much interested unless you have to have it.
cost is just, go ahead with vx and you shouldn't regret.
handling: i rather like the v450 by its shape, but the extra buttons (forward backward zoom+/-) and the much much better wheel seals the deal; for nano, 2 more buttons is what you want and need browsing.
bottom line: vx is the choice
ps. how about M$ bluetrack? reviews seem to be praising them. -
I had both, and the VX nano is by far superior in term of buttons and portability. If you can find it in sale around 50$, that's a good deal for this mouse.

my vx nano is still awesome. my first set of batteries only lasted two months, but the i just changed the second set last week, which means it lasted about 5 months. i use my mouse alot. have traveled with the laptop several times since i've bought it. still haven't had to take out the receiver.

Nice!
My BT 5000 batt's lasted almost 5 months, also!

ITs very good Responsive, comfortable, cheap, small USB dongle. But it is A little heavy, Bluetooth connectivity may be more appealing
-
ok, so this V450 is now sitting also on my desk...
it's collecting all the mess from the surface a little bit too willingly, but i must admit that it's not the mouse's fault...
it's very different from my previous intellimouse, different shape, smaller etc, but i got used to it pretty quickly... only the middle-click is a little bit tough, but i believe that it's only because i've used the mouse for few hours only so far.
this mouse seems to be really good! -
nice little mouse, eh?
-
definitely.
and now i got an idea to clean it a bit, the glossy surface catches mess really quickly... so i was too lazy to switch it off, and as i didn't want to click on smething on the screen unintentionally, i just took the mouse under the table desk. and it was still working, through one inch of wood(and yes i tried to hide it into a drawer to avoid reflections... still worked.)
