I'm currently shopping for a wireless/cordless (whats the difference anyways..) mouse for my laptop. What I will be using my mouse mainly is for web browsing and research consisting of having Firefox open with many tabs and opening up even more tabs. As for gaming I don't think I'll be only gaming casually. So here are some (hopefully not too many) features I'm looking for in a mouse:
- Smooth mouse wheel (don't you hate the really loud and stiff clicky ones haha)
- Mouse wheel click (for clicking links to open up in a new tab. Will definitely be using this feature a lot so a soft one would be a nice plus.)
- Comfort (haha kind of obvious but kind of necessary for rapidly switching from tab to tab in Firefox and switching from one program to another. This might rank a bit high on the priority list due to the college workload.)
- Soft/Medium click buttons (for the same reasons as above)
- Micro dongle (optional - a nice plus because I can just leave it in when I put my laptop into my bag but not too big a deal.)
- Scroll left/right on mouse wheel (optional - think I'll need this with my wide screen?)
So I came across the Logitech VX Nano which meets my requirements but is out of my budget. I'm looking for something under $30, $20 is my target. I'm considering the Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000 despite how boring it looks compared to the Nano haha. It doesn't have the nice extra buttons like the Nano but it has an amazing battery life and I can get it off amazon for about $20. Any other Logitech/Microsoft alternatives?![]()

I have this one and the VX Nano. They are both pretty similar. The USB dongle is a bit larger though. You can also store the dongle in the mouse itself. -

On this mouse, you have to push on the dongle to release it from the mouse. Not sure how the other ones worked.

I can store the dongle in my MS 6000 also!
OH meh...I will take the MS Mobile Mouse 6000 over both of them FTW
hee hee..

What bothers me about the VX Nano is how the middle click is by default relegated to that windows switching button, since clicking the scroll wheel just changes the scroll mode. (between frictionless and clicky) Microsoft mice don't click when they scroll, correct? The ones I've experienced haven't.

The silence is very nice!

i have the microsoft mobile wireless 6000 i use for gaming w/my g51 and i love it, and im coming from a mx510. The tracking is great, wireless response is perfect, its comfy for both hands if needed, and it has all the functions you asked for. The only thing thats a minus is the usb receiver sticks out a little further than i thought it would, I havent seen any other nano receivers so this may be perfectly normal. Ultimately its still small enough not to have to unplug, which is the goal
