Just wanted to see if anyone has these speakers and what their opinion is on them so far. Ive read a lot of great things online about them but it was also mentioned that they produce inadequte (for the pricetag that is) MUSIC playback. Maybe there is something better for the price?
Any opinion or advice is welcome, especially personal opinions from people who play video games, watch DVDs, and listen to music with these speakers.
Thanks in advance.
PS. I have a Creative X-Fi Extreme Soundblaster express card with a 5.1 dock module, purchased specifically for my future 5.1 surround sound. Has an optical out. Should i use it?

Check out this recent conversation about them on this board -> Here -
My roommate has one set up in the house, hooked up to a DLP projector...EXCELLENT SOUND!! We usually set it aroud quarter way up on the volume and it feels like a thunderstorm or something upstairs above the living room. I may get one down the road. What kind of prices have you been looking at?

Well TigerDirect seems to offer the best price. Although with shipping the final price becomes astronomical at almost CAD $340. Its one to one with the american dollar... Does anyone know of a better deal :s ?

Yeah
go to Amazon.com -
They're a lot cheaper there the last time i looked

Its a discontinued model should be up for pretty cheap.

Thanks a lot guys. I found a tigerdirect store close to toronto and will get my girlfriend to drop me there on my way home from the airport. The price is two hundred and twenty something dollars i think. Very convinient for me.
Once again, thank you. -
i have one..and sounds very good for $200 speaker system. the lowest I saw was $250 w/ 50 rebate.
I think it was from tigerdirect.com -
I don't know if this is useful at all, but last night I had my less powerful z-2300's turned up about 30% in my dorm and today my RA told me someone had been complaining about the bass... :\ Just thought I should share.

i have both the Logitech Z-2300 and Z-5500. Both Systems are very good. But the Logitech z-2300 Sub delivers tighter bass. The Z-5500 bass response is slightly slower compared to the Z-2300. but however i had both systems for a while now and they have been reliable. I even still have my Logitech Z-680 and it works perfectly to this day. Logitech makes great products including their speaker systems

I have finally gotten over the furniture assembly, text-book pick up and such errands. (moving to a new house is time consuming) One hour ago the Z-5500 from TigerDirect in Eutobicoke (GTA, Ontario) was turned on and i tested it with "Transformers" in high def, DI.fm premium trance channel, CS:Source and COH:OF. Using the included cables in direct 6-channel mode connected to a PCI Express X-Fi SoundBlaster i ***!!! TRIED !!!*** to turn the sound system to its full volume. I failed. Several things fell from the table, my entire body was vibrating etc. etc. etc. My previous beloved 1000W Pioneer 5.1 HTS is now obsolete and has been moved downstairs to end its days in its true purpose - being connected to a plasma screen.
I have to say that this is by far one of the best purchases of life. I highly recommend this system as it delivers unparalleled surround sound quality and sharpness, disgustingly oversized sense-overloading raw power, HTS connectivity, no background noise, well thought-out mounts, sleek style, and all of this for CAD 230.
Thank you to everyone who supported me in this purchase.
(PS. have i ever seen a bigger sub-woofer? ---->> NOOOOOOOO) -

Cool, I knew you would like it. It is a very nice set for a great price and probably the best sound system you can get for a PC, unless you hook up a high dollar home theater system directly to your machine. Enjoy.
