hey guys, whats your opinion on these two mouses? i've had experience on both of them and prefer the logtech mx518 in terms of design, but i'm slightly more concern about the durability factor.
i play a decent amount of fps and games in general and i've blew a lot of money into replacing keyboards/mice because they just break down so quick. its not like i go into a crazy rage and smash stuff when i lose (i only do that to my cheap $5 mouses back in the day) but they seriously break down fast.
i have limited experience with logitech, i'm currently using a Cordless click plus wireless mouse and the middle mouse button/scroll wheel basically broke down in 2-3 months. i can still scroll with the wheel, but it won't register the click when you press down with it. on the other hand, i've had a cousin who had a gimicky "ifeel" logitech mouse, and he had it for years and is still working to this day until he decided to upgrade to a mx518.
how durable is the razer diamondback? i've first hand experience with the mouse in the past, but is it durable?

I think theyre as durable as any other mouse, though a few people i know, 3 actually broke their razers in the past 2 months or so. before you get turned off, they did in fact smash them against their desks while playing an intense call of duty match. It seems that the whole razer vs logitech comes down to how you hold your mouse (fingers vs whole hand). anyways, i'd say if you like the logitech design better, then go with a g5. the mx518 is nice, but i like the large feet and the weight system on the g5.

the g5 does very look nice, but its somewhat out of my price range
i really don't want to keep shelling out money for a new mouse and it just gets worse when i buy even more expensive mouses
also, whats up with the new G5 and g7 mouse having only one thumb button? i love the additional button on my current mouse for my hotkeys in WoW.
the g5 only about $10-15 more on amazon, but i think the diamondback and the mx518 is more comparable due to their similar price range. -
I currently use the mx518 and I love it. I've had it for about 6 months now and havent noticed any problems with durability. I personally dont think it compares with the diamondback.

In my experience Razer mice are more durable than Logitech's. The Razer mice have rubberized buttons which do not wear like the painted Logitechs. I had a Diamondback for a year and it was an amazing mouse - great feel, accuracy, and durability. The Copperhead is even more durable. I have been using it for over a year and a half and it has been wonderful to me.

I just received the new Diamondback 3G... it is the best mouse I have EVER used.

I've basically remained exclusive to Logitech mice since the late 1990s. I've only had one cease to function, and the company was great about replacing it. You should buy whatever you think is the most comfortable. I've tried just about every Razer mouse since the Boomslang and just could not get comfortable with any of them. Further, the software has never worked right for me.

My 518 is... 4 years old and still seems like its in brand new condition and I use it daily (and FPS gaming too). To this day I dont think there is a better mouse, even my brand new G7 doesn't make me as happy. Also if your super tech guy they benchmarked mice and the 518 was sooo far ahead of everything else with all the stats we never see/know like its refresh rate and stuff.

While I'm using a Logitech MX Revolution with my desktop these days because of the scroll wheel and wirelessness, I still use my mx518 at work, and I honestly prefer its tracking. Best mouse I've ever owned.

I've had my mx518 for, I'd reckon, nearly 2 years. It still works perfectly. The only noticeable wear is a bit of the paint on the thumbrest, and the Logitech logo is all but gone. Other than that, it's been absolutely wonderful, as has every other Logitech peripheral I've ever owned. Hard to go wrong. I also remember reading a couple of comparative reviews that have established the mx518 firmly as having the best tracking of any gaming-grade mouse. Plus I like the feel better than that of my friend's Razer (not sure which model). Though if you're a lefty, it obviously won't get along with you so well.

I played FPS a lot mostly Unreal Tournament, so imho:
MX510 was the best mouse I ever used, too bad its not made anymore
MX518 .. something was weird about that one, I think the DPI was too high, so had to make sensitivity adjustments, didn't like 518 at all
Razor is overrated, I know a bunch of people who use it but its not better than logitech
If you want a good mouse get on of the new G5, with two side buttons not one, best mouse to come out after mx510
And in terms of durability, all logitech mice I had were extremely tough, and I'm very abusive with them, so no problem in that department, and logitech is very good about replacing them if you have any issues -
See my signature...NO WORDS! ... the more i use it the more i love it!

I'm using the new version of the diamondback, the Diamondback 3g. It's basically the diamondback with the Deathadder's sensor in it, and the new design is very comfortable and looks great. Try them out first though -
MX518 here . Great mouse . Ive had 3(!) MX510 which i realy liked but ... they ... just ... kept ...dieing ... I use my MX518 every day and it still feels like new . Love it .

Had my mx518 for over 1.5 years now. Works like a charm.
Only complaints would be the paint from the logitechs logo wearing off and one specific wearing mark on the thumbrest. -
