Which company would you say makes better notebook mice: Logitech or Microsoft? And which mice from those companies would you recommend?

I use the Logitech MX3200 cordless keyboard and laser mouse. Pretty inexpensive ($47 after rebates on tigerdirect) and the keyboard and mouse work great
-
Logitech's high end stuff is pretty cool (the VX/MX mice). Microsoft seems to be more into functionality while Logitech caters more to gamers.
Among my college friends here, the logitech mice are just flat out cooler than the Microsoft ones. I guess I'd say if you wanted a decent mid-range mouse then I'd recommend either, but if you have the money to spring for one of the higher end mice, I'd run with Logitech. -

I personally prefer Microsoft mice, but this is a very subjective topic. I highly suggest that you go to a store and look/try to hold each company's products and decide for yourself.

microsoft
notebook bluetooth 5000 or notebook 4000 -
i have a cheap $10 mouse from microsoft that matches my cheap notebook very nicely! the feel is almost the same too! model 3000
-
I personally like Logitech better. Mainly for quaility. But check out Kensignton for the best quality, although im not sure if they make gaming mice- but "Slimblade" is very nice and confortable.
-
I like Logitech the best, good gaming performance and good quality/ comfortability.

Having used the MS Natural Ergonomic Desktop 7000 and the Logitech MX3100, I have to say overall, MS has a better set. The wristrest is much nicer, the design is more ergonomic, and the feel is more solid. The only point I feel Logitech has is functionality - I miss several of the shortcut functions like the media keys, the volume dial, Lithium ion battery, and lights for the caps/num/scroll/F lock.

Isn't logitech now owned by Microsoft anyway ? <_<

Logitech ftw.

Anyways.. I like microsoft hardware, but I always end up getting logitech products, as I like the "feel" of it better... Logitech keyboard cause it feels more responsive, and less bulky.. VX revolution, because I don't like microsoft's scroll wheel... (I use the click-step-scroll on my vx, although it put a lot of emphasis on the hyper-scroll technology).
Logitech speakers, cause I bought the vx revo after I RMA'd my other defective Logitech mouse.. (I emailed them.. and they sent me the speakers instead of the mouse) -
i haven't run into problems with either manufacturers. $50 mouse = $50 mouse nothing more nothing less. just go to your local bestbuy and see which one fits more comfortably in your hand.

Meh. I LOVE Microsoft mice... I keep switching interchangeable, but I just can't get over the very FEEL of the MS mice that I like so very much!

I have used both M$ and Logitech mice. They are very close in quality. For cordless, I use Logitech usb mice. I have noticed M$ bluetooth mice at MicroCenter recently for $30 and I'm thinking of trying one as it's cheaper than the Apple Mighty Mouse. I was a windows user for many years and it's not easy for me to let go of those extra buttons.
On my main machine (Macbook 2.4Ghz), I use an LX7 but I'm thinking I might change to either a nano-receiver model or a bluetooth model.
I am also considering the following M$ mice... The 5000 bluetooth version or the 5000 wireless version.
I'm used to the Logitech so I'll probably just do nothing for a while and live with my LX7 and that big receiver sticking out of the side of my Macbook. In my mind, when it comes to mice it's a tie M$=Logitech.
I'm not a gamer so I don't even slow down and look at all those fancy mice that allow you to map your rocketlauncher, lasers, cloaking and crowbar to different buttons that would get in the way when I'm writing a paper for school or browsing the net. I also tend to avoid the boutique end of the market. It's a mouse, not a sports car. It simply needs to be comfortable and work. This is what puts the Mighty Mouse at the lower end of my preference scale, it's $70 price and less than stellar battery life and, oh yeah, one button. -
I've always bought Logitech mice and keyboards. My desktop has used 2 optical mice [current mouse included -- the old one is still functional, sans the barely clickable right click, which I had heavily used in games lol] and 1 keyboard. I'm currently using the Cordless Desktop LX310 Laser with my laptop and it's been great so far.
Don't know about Microsoft though as I haven't really seen them being sold here. -
+1 for logitech!

I think it's really a matter of personal preference and the individual model of keyboard/mouse. I have a Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 6000 (v1, the original) and it's simply amazing (though I hate Microsoft
). The scroll wheel thing on the Microsoft mice is annoying at first, but now I hate mice where the scroll wheel does click, because I'm used to it not clicking. Be sure to try out the keyboard/mouse at a store first, if you intend to purchase it online.

How about a poll ? I'd really like to see how the results turn up myself!!

ScifiMike12 Drinking the good stuff
All my external devices are mainly made by Logitech. My parents mouse however, is a crappy M$ wireless optical mouse. Got it for free from Dell but the precision/tracking is horrible. I'm sure they make better products, but the one my parents own is down right poorly made.

got a VX Revolution by Logitech and its really nice to use, software works well and mouse seems nice and accurate and doesn't lag that i've noticed. in fact i prefer the vx revolution to the mx revolution i have for my desktop

I find both of them interchangeable within similar price ranges I think it really comes down to features and personal comfort. Free throw ins are usually soon to be throw aways.
I'm quite happy with my G5,G7,G11 but I bought them all at a considerable discount.
Although a while back I would have been badmouthing Logitech for bad xp x64 driver support.
I do remember reading some time ago that MS keyboards and Mice were made by logitech, but I have zero proof to that. -

i have been lookinn on the net for pictures but i cant seem to see pictures for the logitech desktop wireless range of prdts with the receiver.
any comments on how big the receivers are for MS and logitech? i know MS ones are pretty big but logitech...no pictures as yet. -
I use the Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 ~ for my lappy, and have been happy with it. I mainly use it when at my desk, or out-and-about. I have not used a Logitech mouse.
So, for me it would be "personal choice", and what you are happy with using. -
microsoft arc
-
Going with Logitech here mainly for their build quality and that I am a gamer myself
-
micro$oft mice are what i use but other keyboards
-
I would only recommend the SideWinder from Microsoft but for everything else...
There's Logitech -
vinceboiii Animals are friends, not food.
Logitech! Whaaa
-
Bluetooth... Microsoft NB BT Mouse 5000
Dongle... Logitech VX Nano or MS Arc with preference to the VX Nano -
The MS BT 5000 is really good!

I have owned only logitech and microsoft mice. I dont think you can go wrong with either.

I like Logitech.

Umm I want the Sidewinder but would settle for logitech G9 but as it is now I do not like logitech because of their '07 line of laptop mice I bought 2 of the V400 and both had problems with their lasers
BTW amazon has the Logitech G9 for $40.49 (after a rebate) -
-I was at a competition once, and they supplied Razer mouses, but I couldn't use them because of the side button placement. -
Just so people know.. Bluetrack technology < Laser
Laser works on everything whereas bluetrack is almost like optical -
-Optical is also prefered over laser when it comes to gaming. -
If you check out the vid from crunch gear where one if there techies reviews the wireless sidewinder you will here him complain that he was have problem with the tracking on his mousepad with the blue track
-
-
I tried my friend's explorer mouse with bluetrack and it doesn't even work on the black surface of my laptop (Sager NP8660) like my optical mouse
-
i like logitech
i dont really like microsoft in general. but their newer stuff is rather tempting, of course im thinking about their blutrack mouse series. their keyboard with scroll wheel is really cool also.
-
I used to like Logitech til I tried out MS ergonomic desktop 5000 - it's really comfortable!
