Both very similar in price, but the x-240's offer more power and the extra dock. I was wondering which is best in terms of sound quality (overall).

both are crummy but the x240 should have a bit better bass. i would really invest in something a bit better as you probably will not be happy with those.

Try looking at the x230's for another alternative in that price point. I think they are the best of the three.

Logitech X-240 has Easy Setup, Control Pod, Produces a lot of sound, MP3 player cradle when compared to x-220

Well my budget is pretty tight. The best I can really order right now are the VS4121's from Altec Lansing, which seem to be pretty good.

But why would they not be good? Reviews are generally positive, and I'm no audiophile by any means (also using this for a small room).

I have the X-240 at home and they are sound decent. I had the X-530 before. The bass is muddy on both but for the price they are great.

If you wouldn't mind, how large of a room do you use it for?

It is pretty loud. At home I use the X-240 in the office. When I had the X-530 I only ever used the front channels and that was enough for my dorm room.

Thanks for the responses, I'll pick myself up the 240's
