they were atleast decent about it. They offered me 50% off my next purchase from them off anything not just the speakers. I can get a new speaker system new mouse new keyboard and anything else from them all at 50% off, not too bad they coulda just said oh well your speakers are out of warranty you are screwed, overall impressed by the company.

Ummm how did you blow that sub? lol
-
well had the sub level at maximum and volume up about 75%. Listened to it like this ovcer the past 3.5 years or so. I guess I just wore it out.
-
Oh you have had it a while, I see. Well its good you got 50%, thats pretty good of them.
-
Isn't the z-5500 something like a 500 watt stereo system? And you were listening to it at 75% for 3.5 years? Good god man, can you still hear?
But yeah, Logitech is really good about that sort of stuff. The headband broke on my Bluetooth headphones once they were out of warranty and they replaced them for free (with a new model no less) anyways. -
The z5500 sub can overheat, probably flopped out, its possible you could replace the driver, 50% offs nice though, i'll grant them that.

505 rms 1010 peak. and i always listen to rly loud music. this system doesnt seem very loud to me as i have a 4500 dollar system in my car 2x 13.5" jl audio w7's 2x 1500 watt rms amps 1 for each sub. And a 500 x 4 rms for my mids and highs so I'm used to 3500 watts rms of power in my car so 505 watts in my room isnt much compared to that. And I askjed logitech to sell me a driver and they said they cant sell parts seperately.

Logitech rocks!

logitech is apparently amazing for their customer service....then again, i wouldn't know personally, cause their products have always been top-quality to begin with.
-
Lmfao yeah. Dog chewed right through my G25 pedals, called logitech and was honest about it and they laughed.
They told me to send in my shifter and they would send me a new G25. I was like.......uhh okay.
Within a week I had a brand new G25 + my old G25. -
They truly have a great warranty service!

The greatest damage to any speaker comes from distortion not power. So unless you have a high-end custom system never believe you can actually get the maximum power/sound it's rated at. As a good rule of them, keep it around 50% or so.
For the record, hearing loss occurs at the high frequencies first. In any event, 500 watts really isn't that much. On a typical home system, 500 watts would be the full amount on a mid-level subwoofer alone. -
my hearing is a little bad but its not from the home stereo its from the car stereo. My infinity perfect component speakers are running off 500 watts x 4 rms rockford fosgate amp and the highs kill your ears when you crank it up. The highs actually distort in your ears before the speaker actually distorts. and when the highs distort in ur ear it doesnt feel good trust me on that 1. the 2 jl audio subs run off 1500 watts rms each i have 2 fosgate 1500 x 1 rms class bd amps the gain is up about 60% on each 1 dont even need it up more then that. but as the guy b4 me said the bass doesnt rly hurt you ears its those damn cymbal hits at high frequency that cause pain and ringing in ur ears bass dont do nuttin. I did have to get my rear window specially sealed cause the bass made the seal come apart and water was leaking in when it rained guess 3000 watts rms creates alot of sound pressure.

p.s. Protect your hearing. Once it's gone, it's gone for good!
Logitech z-5500 subwoofer just blew out out of warranty called logitech and...
