Ive been looking into some speakers for my laptop, as general purpose (games, music, movies) and my eye fell on these because of all the fantastic reviews. These are the x230 which goes for around 50, and the z2300 for around 120
Id really appreciate a comparison between the two, as i know little of the musical jargon. I wouldnt mind payin the extra 70, but then there should be that much of a difference in quality...

Hey, I have the Logitech Z2200 (the old model from the Z2300). There is a substantial difference between the z2300 and the X230. The wattage (power) of the Z2300 is much higher and makes a pretty big difference in volume and bass. If you like your movies and music loud, with room shaking bass, go for the Z2300 (its THX certified, by the way). If you just listen to music on low volume levels, then the X230 is right for you.
EDIT: Many people complain that the new Z2300s have poor mid range sound. My buddy has a set and I don't really feel the midrange is that bad when he plays music. However, I do not have a very musically discerning ear, so take it with a grain of salt. Although, from hanging out with him, I do know that the Z2300s get loud enough to shake the pictures off walls. -
by the way, the Logitech Z-5300e system is on sale for $13o if you are in the market for a 5 speaker surround sound system.

i looked into surround sound sets, but my laptop doesnt support that and id have to buy an extra sound card...
But so is the only difference between the two raw power? Cuz if thats the case i guess ill go for the small ones (my student room probably wont be larger than 10 square meters :\ ) -
Actually to get good sound u ll need a good sound card... tat's the reason y some of the z2300 mid fails. I have the z5500 myself, a true value THX speakers. I ve heard the 2300 also, it feels really different from others, in the good ways.
